just finished reading this again for the 2nd time, i am 33 now and i first read this when i was about 12, absolutely took me back to my childhood again, making dams down the local parks etc etc.

i had forotten how much i loved this book.

anyone else like it, or have another book which, read at that age and then again, transports you back as if in a time machine?

Not read the book but loved the film. I'm not a massive fan of the horror genre or easily spooked but that clown I thought was very disturbing, particularly the bit when he's lurking in the drain and comes up through the shower plug.

ANy of the Elric series by Michael Moorcock. LOTR takes me back to cycling round NE Spain and the Hebrides when I was in my early 20s, so nearly two decades ago. WTF I was thinking, lugging the omnibus version of that round in my panniers, I have no idea.

HeathenWoods,

Yeah, The Eternal Champion omnibuses take me back as well. Stormbringer - superb.

I read Cider with Rosie for O level English Literature in 1985. Recently reread it and it did take me back - happy days.

Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. First read it in my early teens, and about a hundred times since. Pure genius.

I've read IT about 20 times. It's probably my most favourite book.

The hobbit is one book that takes me back to my youth though. I remember the teacher gave us the books and said we should read a few pages at home that night. I couldn't put it down and read the whole book in one evening.
