Just recently when I have been switching a TV off at the mains I have been getting what feels like a static shock from the socket.

It doesnt matter whether I am wearing shoes or not etc and happens if you touch it 5 seconds later etc.

The socket itself is a brushed steel thing...if that has anything to do with it. So is it worth just checking all the wiring is secured properly in the socket, or is it the TV that is going dodgy?

When you check the wires in the socket, check the steel facia is earthed as well as the box recessed into the wall.

It'll just be static. Flick the main trip for the house and see if it still happens (it will).
