Mrs cloudnine runs a website and when you go to the login for it it comes up with 'Your connection is not private warning'.. and a big warning
Is this to do with the change in date for this year or an attempted security hack?

What computer operating system and browser are you using?
There's a lot changing in the SSL world at the moment and it could be anyone of these things that are (possibly entirely legitimately) causing these alerts.

Windows 7 and chrome.. Theres a redline through the http in the browser.

The certificate's expired - over a year ago, on the 14/10/13...
Which means you should have seen this error before. (Edit: and if you haven't it means someone has reconfigured the server incorrectly)
Cougar is right, the cert expired quite some time ago.
That needs renewing.
Strange as im sure its been paid for and its the first time ive seen the error.

When? Typically a cert lasts for 12 / 24 months and then needs to be renewed.
Who maintains the site? Is it possible someone's reverted back to an old cert by accident?

Almost certainly, though I'd be giving the hosting company a call to see what's changed / just in case.
Have definitley paid for hosting and the SSL certificate in early November 2014

That'll be it then. You've got the renewed certificate, and whoever installed it misclicked and selected the previous one instead of the new one.
