Mines with Hargreaves Lansdown. I don't really remember why I went with them. No real complaints other than the £11.95 trading fee every time you want to buy or sell stocks.

I know the point of the product is more aimed at steady investing and that it isn't really a trading platform but I'm thinking of switching to somewhere that has lower fees.

I DD some cash in every month, the majority of which is auto invested into an index fund, there's no charge for that (other than the ongoing fund charges). I keep a portion of the monthly amount as cash so I can buy bits and pieces here and there but when I want to buy individual stocks, it's £11.95 every time regardless of the (usually small) amount I want to buy.

I see 2 options. One is become far richer so £12 doesn't matter so much but until then, option 2 is change provider.

I've also got my little bundle of snot joy a S&S ISA and like the fact that I can manage that through the app alongside my own account so someone who offers similar would be good. Pretty sure there are no trading fees in the junior account.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I use Invesco, can’t remember them charging when I withdrew a chunk last year. However I don’t buy and sell individual shares, I just leave it alone.

The return on mine has been pretty decent.

50% US 50% UK shares, DD each month.

I use ajbell and interactive investor.

Ajbell is ok. The app got very flakey when things giot insane during COVID. Quite often trades would fail and it was a pain. However that was probably the exchanges being too busy rather than ajbell. I think I only paid a fiver per trade as I was doing hundreds some months. Which worked out max 0.5%

With ii you can do regular investments each month with zero fees like you say here:

which is auto invested into an index fund, there's no charge for that

Why not just do that when you want to buy a particular stock.... Set up a monthly then cancel it after it executed. Fair enough you can't time it as well but, as some tedious ****er will be along in a few minutes to tell you you can't time it anyway, so why try...

like the fact that I can manage that through the app alongside my own account so someone who offers similar would be good.

Ajbell offers that. No idea if iII does too as I've not invested more than £85k for either kid yet!

Fidelity or Vanguard seem to be popular options

Vanguard charge more on their own platform than buying a vanguard fund within a stocks and shares ISA on T212.

I use T212 but I'm not 'trading', I'm just holding 2 ETFs long term and adding money to it when I can...

I'm split 60/40 between an all world ETF and a developed Europe ETF...

Only been going since April and doing quite well, I'm up 5.7% on all world (VWRP) and 6.47% up on developed Europe (VEUA)

Fidelity user here, just because it was the easiest one to aggregate my mums various cash isa's into when I started managing her finances (and then I recommended myself as a new customer and we both got some cash for doing it).  Site seems to work well.

If you set up regular investing in HL then share purchases are free. Look for the 'Monthly saving' menu. https://www.hl.co.uk/investment-services/invest-by-direct-debit

Im with HL also, interestingly you can make it very cheap by only holding shares or ETFs, with a maximum annual charge being a flat £45.

Trading212 seems to offer some of, if not the absolute lowest fees (including for other peoples ETFs such as Vanguard as noted above). It also provides more flexibility in what you can buy.

I use Vanguard but if I was signing up now it would probably be with T212. Whilst I mostly stick with ETFs it would have occasionally been nice to pick some individuals shares up at rock bottom e.g. RR.

I have an S&S with Fidelity, they have a scale for charges. Think it's fixed under £25k pot value at around £7.45pm. Once you go over that sum its a small % based on value, this will rise every month as you add funds and it grows. Think my last charge was £8.12 next month is £8.25 or something like that.

I use Interactive Brokers, I also have a Fundsmith holding, but it's not performed well the last few years.

Eq here, they offset dealing charges against fixed fees.  Never had a problem with trades, I just let income accumulate and buy shares when I see decent opportunities.

V happy with isa performance as try to stay fully invested.  Covid aside, it's been a decent return, and tax free.
