I know thos ones been done before but its been a while so were just wondering which is the best between XT & PG990 these days.

you either stick with all sram or all shimano cos they are both different ratios...dont mix sram and shimano together..not compatible....i started off on all sram stuff very good.....but i use all shimano stuff these days... 😉

No, you can mix SRAM and Shimano chains, cassettes, chainsets and front mechs. It's only the rear mech and shifter that need to be from the same brand.

I prefer XT cassettes. They're lighter and stiffer.

I prefer SRAM chains simply for the powerlink but they can be bought separately.

There is so little in it that my decision is normally based on what offers are currently on.

There are plenty of alternate chain manufacturers though. I've had some bargain 9spd clarks, wipperman and kmc chains.

KMC chains come with their own powerlink

Pretty much any chain will take a powerlink

Which KMC? whichever is in your budget, they're all good
