Bit bored at the moment and fancy trying something different.
Always been a whisky drinker, other than the occasional G&T or a Rum and coke (Yeah I know).
I used to like the peaty whiskies, but of late prefer smoother like Macalan, Glenmorangie, Old Pultney. When it comes to beer things like Waggledance, London Pride, Spitfire hit the mark. So that gives you an idea of my taste buds.
So any suggestions? Cognac, Brandy, something else? Just try some other Whiskies?
Ta
good tequila and port are my personal faves, oh and Pisco, Hmmmmmmmm
Armagnac if you're a fan of the peatier whiskies, it's more flavoursome than Cognac in general. Yum!
Metaxa Greek brandy and coke
or go to their website and check some of the mixes
Stellbull, BullBull, FosBull. All of these drinks require a pint glass, a half of either bulmers, stella or fosters a can of red bull and some vodka, preferably singles but if you're man enough doubles.
If you are in a state where you consider these to be god options then you are probably completely wasted. Good laugh though.
Jenever is interesting.
Sloe gin is delightful. Good ports are superb in small measures. Beer-wise, I have a case of Leffe Blonde in the garage and a bottle of that is worth 2 of most anything else.
Mount Gay rum and ginger beer...... hmmmmmm
another for Tequila!
Bundaberg Rum.
How about some of the more exotic Vodka such as Zubrowska; got to be put in the freezer for at least a day first tho'
Or jaegermeister which is the more palatable of the Bitters/Schapps - Gammel Dansk isn't bad but I've got a Czech one that has a throathold and shudder with it.
3 Cocktails that are good for Saturday evenings:
Margaritas (Tequila, Cointreau & lemon juice are the ingredients at our house)
Caipirinha (Cachaça, lime & sugar)
Martini (Gin, basically. A drop of Noilly Prat and any vegetable you want - olive, lemon peel are commonly used. A cocktail onion makes it a Gibson but sometimes I put olives, cocktail onions and cocktail gherkins on a stick, which is lovely)
A fine, undervalued drink is a very dry Sherry (or Manzanilla). Very good sipped while carving the roast, or to drink with tapas.
And finally - Calvados. Drink like a whisky, use it in cooking (pork dishes, especially my black pudding, fried apple & cream dish) and goes lovely in a hip flask on a freezing night together with my home made flapjack. Doesn't it, guys?
try a painkiller
2 part orange juice, 1 part pineapple juice, 1 part coconut milk, huge measure of rum - way more than is sensible, ice, and grated nutmeg
pain no more
Aged rums or Anejo tequilas might give you some enjoyment, as might the 'good' stuff in the cognacs (I like Hennessy).
Tawny port is something I like, and if you need to wean yourself off the whisky you could do worse than pass some of the finer bourbons on the way out.
red wine, pref from australia but cali and sa ok too. i've gone onto it after pretty much drinking nothing but whisky for a few years, really like the variety and shopping for bargains - have a bottle of bin 53 shiraz that was half price in morrisons for tonights tipple.
Coincidently enough I've just picked a bottle of Tequila! The gold is a nicer taste imo. Mmmmmm...... looking forward to later.
My 'biking mix' is approx 5 parts relatively decent whisky (don't go daft, but avoid things like 'Scottish Leader') and 1 part Drambuie. Marvellously warming and the touch of sugar and spice from the Drambuie is perfect in place of jelly-babies on a cold winter ride. Basically a 'rusty nail' but with a lot more whisky than usual 🙂
A nice sloe or damson gin.
