Never really knew I wanted one, but walked past a couple of LG models on offer in Tesco and realised I wouldn't mind clearer speech and better bass from the telly box. It'd be good to be able to stream music too, maybe encourage the kids to exist in the living room without screens on!

So, for less than £100, can I get better than those LGs (which, incidentally would match the telly and hopefully work off same remote!)

Been looking and definitely getting one with a wireless woofer. So soundbar sveltly on top of the sideboard where the telly is hovering, and wireless woofer stashed behind some furniture. Mrs might never notice the woofer. I'll get one with blueteeth too so I can use it for music given that my old NAD amp and M-S Speakers look like they're heading for ebay/the loft. I'll probably spend 150-200 quid from Richers.

I've had a non-woofer soundbar for a few years (Yamaha) and recently unplugged it whilst the telly was moved for building and decoration and without it the sound is astonishingly bad.

Soundbar for the win.

My Hitachi one was about £40 from Argos. Does the job. My room isn't very big and I have a next door neighbour, so I don't think I'm getting the full benefit.

I have this

Samsung sounbar

I bought it to go with a Samsung TV so LG to LG follows the same logic, It makes a massive difference to sound quality/atmosphere, if you can stretch to a wireless sub its worth it for the tidiness

My sony soundbase has a great basey sound when needed, synchs with the TV remote (HDMI required) which is a huge bonus and has lots of wizzbang cool features, (which I dont use that much)
gota great deal on sale in john lewis but it does come up a bit big,
worth waiting for black friday?

I listened to loads when I was looking and all the cheap ones (although better sound than a flat TV) sounded rubbish.
I then listened to the Sony ht-nt3 and it was night and day better. This was probably because it was £500, but a few weeks later I bought one in the Curry's sale for half Price. All I'd say is maybe wait for a half price sale and get something twice your budget for the same money. Sounds obvious, but sometimes a bit of patience pays off in spades.
