There's 18 of us travelling up to do a coast to coast bike ride.
Just realised how close Merlin is to the motorway so we are making it our lunch stop.
Is there a nice pub nearby? Or somewhere not too shabby but not expensive?
Northerners, we need your help.

You are aware that its just a big warehouse in the middle of a bloody big industrial estate? Which is itself surrounded by some sprawling soulless housing estate, and a mahoosive Tesco?

If you're after decent places to eat, then you're going to struggle round there.

If you widen your question to 'OI! Northerners! Recommend me somewhere decent to eat not far off the M6', then I reckon we might be of more use ๐Ÿ˜€

The Malthouse is very close to the same Mway junction. Nice surroundings with beer garden / terrace on the canal. It's a chain pub but the foods ok and prob just the sort of place if 18 of you show up. There are nicer places, but I'm recommending on the location and number of you.

travel another hour to tebay services

personally I wouldn't bother to stop off at the 'retail outlet' unless you really needed to get something in a emergency

Ok, fair enough. I'll see if we need anything first.

Malthouse is good

Plough inn, Runshaw Lane- does not have a website - well it does but it is rubbish

Its ok but not exceptional.Does some interesting stuff ranging from vegan, veggie to odd meats like Kangaroo

Dead easy to find as well

Not much in the area that is worth the effort

Merlin have extended their showroom recently so it might be worth visiting
Ribble cycles is only a couple of miles away but their shop only has a few bikes on show

For lunch this place is ok and is about 3 miles from Merlin

its about 6 miles away but it is good.

Sea view inn is exactly opposite where you turn left to head down to Merlin - no idea if any good though

Merlin have extended the showroom from what they had but it's still pretty much a see it online then pick it up system.

Having said that they had some clothing in a while ago that wasn't online so its worth popping off the M6 to have a mooch over. Wouldn't go specially from miles away unless you are defiantly after getting something.
