We will be in touch
Just drank a couple of beers...
Orkney Northern Light
Orkney Atlas Latitude
Harvieston Schiehallion
Coors Light which was Damme cold....probably just as well.....
So, I'm finding I'm enjoying a lighter beer, so recommend me a nice lager or pilsner to enjoy. Must be available in a bottle.
The schiehallion you had is as good as beer gets I'm afraid!.
Ditto nobeer
Brew66
Can't beat a good wheat beer. Liking Erdinger at the moment.
As good as beer gets?
*Facepalm*
Yes, the Schiehallion was very nice. The Coors was not.
Now thinking about something darker for tomorrow evening. Remember many years ago enjoying more than a few pints of Draft Young's double chocolate stout in a pub called The Britannia in Kensington and getting into a heated discussion with some guy called Brian Sewell...whoever he was. I sense my NE 'teuchter' accent was a challenge for him.
Flash....what do you recommend then?
Elixer Brewery, all of it.
Black Isle, all of it.
Tempest, all of it.
Orkney,all of it.
Orkney? Skull splitter- no false advertising there.
Was drinking Staropramen tonight- nice.
Any of the West beers are good but not sure if you can get them bottled!
Skull Splitter.....no!
Need a lighter beer.
In my early 20's went out on Xmas eve and consumed too many pints of said brew.....never really saw Xmas day...
Any of you chaps tried any of the Brewdog stuff? Tactical Nuclear Penguin.....Lordy!!!
Come on then, slashfart, impart your great knowledge.
Arran blonde.
Nectar of the gods.
A pale, strongly hopped session bitter with about 3.8 is what you seem to need. Get a bottle of Copper Dragon's very excellent Golden Pippin or Moorhouses superb Blonde Witch. This kind of beer-heading-towards-lager-territory is very fashionable at the moment and most brewers have produced one, usually they have a name like Dizzy Blonde or similar.
Meantime make some lovely 'propper' lagers. Had a bottle of Budvar Bud last night which had some flavour to it.
On the light bitter front JHB from Oakham is a firm favorite. Cairngorm's Triadwinds is also really worth seeking out.
Cheers,
Jamie
If you can find a mama shop in an area where there are lots of Africans you ought to try some of Africa's greatest lagers, Star and Gulder from Nigeria and Tusker or Whitecap from Kenya are superb.
Check out Black Isle Brewery as well for some lovely beers!

^^^ no wife beater 🙁 it makes killer hangovers
Breaker lager
Moretti is light and really nice. On offer at Morrison's at the mo'.
Either of the Calvors Suffolk lagers the 3.8 is a good session beer, the 5.0 is a good pint too. I found the dark and amber versions a bit cack though.
A brewed in Germany Bier is also good at thirst quenching.
The two best I have had recently are the Mikkeller Czechet Pilsner and the Goller Kellerbier. Both very nice. I am a big fan of Vienna style lagers and the Thornbridge Kill Your Darlings is the best I have tried for a while.
Try some of this from Waitrose
German Pilsner
Peroni's my favourite lager, they really should start making it in tins! If not Peroni then Stella of course, then Carlsberg Export. I also enjoy Leffe and Erdinger.
Lovely lovely lager, down my neck, yum yum yum!
Peroni is good, putting it in a tin would change it though.
I like those cheap little French stubbies from supermarkets.
Saltaire Blonde / Cascade Pale Ale is as close to lager as I'd want to get
I'm a big fan of the Williams Bros stuff, this one in particular is the business:

Latitude and northern light are good Pale Ales, as is the Cairngorm Tradewinds mentioned already. If you like that style there are heaps to try, including Brewdog Dead Pony Club. American style pale ales tend to be hoppier and I really like that.
Badger Golden Glory and Golden Champion are lovely light summery beers that are quite lager like... interesting flavours and worth a try.
There is no excuse for drinking Coors 👿
Cotswold lager, especially on tap. Not too fizzy.
Yunki: This is a thread about lager, not a thread about showing off your pseudo nicheness.
Are you mad??!!
EVERY thread on this forum is about showing off one's nicheness! 😉
lovely on a hot day:
London Fields : Unfiltered Lager
Meantime : London Lager
heard good things about
Thornbridge : Tzara
for a fuller flavour move onto:
Racer 5 IPA
There really is no excuse for Coors.
Brooklyn Lager (as pointed out by chakaping) is nice, some of the pale ales that messiah has mentioned would be good, too.
There are some reasonable Spanish lagers, too - Ambar Export for example. Not sure about availability in the UK though.
Fraoch Heather Ale is a good one to try for any ale-curious lager drinkers.
Ditto Badger Golden Champion.
Freeminer
available from your local co-op or, direct....
almost forgot Yorkshire lager recently appeared at a local eatery, on draught. Very tasty. You can also order direct.
Cotswold lager, especially on tap. Not too fizzy.
YAY! A friend of mine is the owner!
Nice beer
For quality 'lagers' you needn't look beyond Williams Brothers Ceasar Augustus or Black Isle Blonde.
Brooklyn has a nice taste to it, bit different from standard lagers.
Thornbridge's Jaipur is great stuff. They also collaborated recently with Sierra Nevada (great American company), on a pale ale called Twin Peaks. One of the nicest beers I've had in ages.
As far as Brew Dog go, Hardcore IPA is lovely, if a tad strong, drink slowly. Dead Pony Club is also worth a go.
You need Fake Lager
That sounds pretty good actually. But they can be so melodramatic in their descriptions. Hahaha.
Marsdenman, if you like Yorkshire lager, Daleside Blond tastes very similar.

Are you mad??!!EVERY thread on this forum is about showing off one's nicheness!
I think the entire male existence is about showing off one's nicheness, or being drunk (or humping, but that's another subject entirely).. Combining the two passtimes is extremely suspicious in my book..
FWIW I had a bottle of RCH Old Slug porter last night - definitely not one for the lager fanciers IMO, or anyone else for that matter
This is my fave at the moment. Is lovely
Most Kolsche is preety good TBH. Needs to be served cold. The locals are very rude about Dom Kolsche, and Sion.
Peter's Kolsche is lovely
I'm niche enough to make my own Wheat beer, and its really very good 🙂
Anyway, Wheat beers make a nice alternative to lager if you want something a bit different. Erdinger is the most common but Fransikaner, Weihenstephan and Paulaner are better if you can find them.
Warsteiner is a nice German Pilsner
Nimbus Blonde is one of the nicest Scottish bottled ales I've found even better than Arran Blonde
Innis&Gunn Blonde
