[#1207220]

I've been single speeding all over, everyday through the snow, and getting quite fit. I even have races entered.

Sledging with the kids today. Stood at the side of the hill watching eldest go down the hill, when I was suddenly spinning upside down and then sliding face first down the hill. A couple of adults and their kids on some huge homemade wooden sledge - metal runners the works had slammed into me from behind.

I now have very badly bruised shoulder, wrist, legs and hips and a broken elbow. B#*@$ds.

I now am on painkillers and looking at 6 weeks off the bike.

Ah well, good job I got some DVDs for Christmas!

Matthew

Sorry to hear that. Broken elbows can be nasty. I hope you've avoided having to have surgery on it.

Still it just shows that singlespeeding is wrong.

thanks everyone!

no warning, 1st I knew was pain in my legs and a flash of sky as I flipped over.

couldn't sue them 'cos they left after blaming me for standing on the side. I wouldn't sue anyway. I believe accidents happen....hence calling them accidents.

I've explained to my kids that once your at the end of your run the only place you should be looking is back up the slope until your back at the top.
So many idiots around who don't look down the slope before they start.

Still at least you didn't do what a colleague once did which was to crash his sledge into the trees and skewer his scrotum on a branch.

I had a similar problem though less severe than your breakage.
Went cycling with my club on Saturday - crashed 2 times, the second was a comedy chain reaction on an icey lane that brought 8 of us down.
Both crashes without a mark on me.

Yesterday sledging with my sons, I try to move a bit quickly to catch my youngest as he heads towards to me and go straight on my arse.
From that I covered in bruises. Heel, arse, eblow all suffering & walking like a cripple.

Man I felt stupid as my 5 year old was asking if I'd hurt myself....

The 6 weeks out is a bummer 🙁
