Bloody hell. No Salah, no Firmino, and Divock Origi to score the winner. You couldn't make it up...

Don’t be daft! I’d never put money on that. Put money on you losing to Wolves on Sunday though 😉

In all honesty though: fair play. Great performance. Always support English teams in Europe. Apart from Chelski, obviously

One of the best and amazing performances I have ever seen by a British team in Europe, and completely unexpected against the might of Barcelona. The Origi goal from the corner was wonderous!

Well done Liverpool from a Leeds fan (hope we can put similar performances in during the play-offs) MOT

as for Messi being from another planet..... I only saw the last 25 minutes, but several times I watched him let a Liverpool player run past him with the ball out of defence. I know his record puts him above all others but he didn't put a shift in tonight when he needed to.

Messi was completely silenced tonight, but are you suggesting that performance tonight is representative of his career?

Glad to see someone finally punish a pretty average Barca side, even if it was Liverpool.
Shouldn't have been 3 down after the first leg but opportunities were there against that defense. Didn't think they would do it though.

Spurs to win it!

When your defence has gone to sleep before a corner. You’re already 3-0 down... 😀

So what does Origi have to do to get a start? He’s come up with the goods every time he’s been asked. Wish we had someone that good warming the bench!

Absolutely not....... a week ago I said he was the GOAT

"and there have been 30 (or 40, or even more) goals/season strikers but they seem to be out and out strikers. Andy Cole for example, was a predator  pure and simple but Messi creates, dictates, conducts, manipulates, AND scores goals"

But today he needed to put a shift in and he was found wanting. No matter how good he is, he went missing in that last 20 minutes when he needed to press and win balls back.

Mane put it in mega shift in first half. TAA corner was super genius. Gigi header was perfect. Alison as level headed as a goalie can get. That was ace.

Man of the match ?
Front to back, period. Every single one of them stood up to be counted and by God they didn’t disappoint. Warriors the lot of ‘em.

Weeksy……I take it all back regarding Liverpool’s reserve forwards!

Got to say as well amid the carnage – Allison was superb.

LOL I didn't argue with you at the time, but Origi put me firmly in my place last night and has sealed his place in Liverpool folklore and history on that performance.

By 'eck though you're right, the keeper played an absolute blinder too, i think some are forgetting that already... he was on fire.

I'm not ashamed to admit i cried like a baby last night after that. Liverpool FC has always been an emotional hotbed for me, but this weekend was exceptionally poignent too. I woke up this morning thinking "did that actually happen...." it seems it really did.

Whether they can win the final now, well as we know a lot comes down to chance to a great extent, but damn, they're obviously in with a chance of it 🙂

Allison was my man of the match.
If it were not for him it would have been 4-4 at least.
Little J can’t wait to get to school as lots of his friends were supporting Barca! Haha.

Can we just pop this pearl of wisdom back up for a little consideration?..... 🙂

You’re not coming back from 3 down to Barca no matter how much self-mythologising you want to do 😉

LOL in his defence, i wasn't that convinced we could either... I thought "well, you never know" but it wasn't a realistic thought.

It's a fair cop, guv.

I didn't think you had a cat in hells chance. Not with Bobby and Salah both out. An unbelievable performance! I bet it was absolutely mental in Liverpool last night!

I had the debate with my lad when he said about Salah and Firmino being out

"Lets just see, you never know.... "
"maybe Origi will score Daddy"
"Don't be daft son, that big carthorse can't score again"

Errrrrm 🙂

I half hope i don't get a ticket for Madrid as unless they come as a pair, one for me and one for my lad, i can't see myself going. It would be incredibly harsh for me to go to the final without him as his interest has blossomed in football and Liverpool in these past months.

Back in the day (ahem) any European football was mostly Liverpool, or seemed that way at least, so I've always had a bit of soft spot for them in the Euro Cups.

I thought Istanbul in '05/06 (can't remember) was something of a miracle, but last night was just about as nuts as footy gets...

I'm not sure anybody realistically did. It was only a possibility because it was a possibility. Not realistic. Barcelona only had to score one goal while Liverpool were scoring their first three - which would have knocked the wind out of Liverpool and rendered their mission practically impossible.

For me, it was not conceding that won the game. Becker has played in both games where Barcelona have had a three goal advantage overturned! Mané, despite not scoring was a beast all evening - really had the defence on their toes all night. VVD is an immense presence; he really is. Nearly scored from the corner too. I can't quite pick out a MotM to be honest.

Has there been any confirmation on whether the corner was a practised move i.e. "Shaq, you shape like you're strolling over to take the corner. Divock, you hang around, stay onside and let's see if they buy it," or was it just an instinctive move from TAA?

EDIT: Seems, from listening to Klopp saying "I don't know what happened...", it was instinctive. And if it was, that was pure genius from a 20 year old.

Best player in the premiership this season, by a country mile. Best defender in the world at the moment, also by a country mile. The 75 million you paid for him has looked like more and more of a bargain by the week. People go on about strikers and midfielders, but how many points a season is he worth? Bloody bucket-loads!!

Yep - I reckon VVD would even make Mignolet look solid!

But not Karius. VVD's not that good 😉

I honestly thought if they were to win they would've had to score 5 goals - I didn't see Barca not scoring at Anfield.

"Barca will struggle to cope next week given the unique atmosphere, famous Euro night etc etc. Scousers to win 4-0."

Did I heck put a penny on that...

they've created chances though..... just very weak finishing; twice straight at the keeper. A goal then would have livened it up, need to score in the next ten mins I think and then who knows.

But I suspect they're ****ed
