I correctly predicted the 4-3 scoreline. I just didn’t know to who.

Cracking match and some absolutely top notch finishes!

Cracking match, just before Liverpool scored there second, I was thinking how well the defences had been and how much they often receive unwarranted criticism, then bang total defensive shambles.

we still have only lost 1 match all season mind, have Mendy to come back and Davis Silva obviously doesn't have his mind 100% right (quite understandably). So I don't think I should be worried. It would take our nearest contenders to still lose 4 matches more than city, I don't see anyone going unbeaten to the end of the season, so city would realistically have to lose at least 6 IMO.

Why on earth would a player like that go to Liverpool?

With their thin squad and with champions league midweek, they'll be back down to their more familiar 6th or 7th place finish this season

Hmmmm 6th or 7th binners? They're looking better than that ?

Today? Yeah, they were great. Though could have very easily, once again, chucked away a comfortable lead

I love it! It’s fantastic to watch! That was a brilliant match! Far more entertaining than the brand of football we’re playing under Jose.

But would you honestly bet against them following that performance by losing to Swansea next weekend though?

That’s the way this usually goes with Liverpool

They play great against top sides, then lose to some relegation contender the following week

Can you remind me which relegation contender they have lost to this season? Are you talking about either city or Spurs?

Not this season Binners - held to a draw by Utd and Chelsea and humped away by City and Spurs. Thrashed Arsenal at the start of the season, but that's expected surely, it'll be a big 5 soon. Only two defeats, but yes I do agree they are still pretty vulnerable, however I do think they're getting more solid.

Weeksy - as an aside i’ve Just watched the match with my dad, who’s a Liverpool fan. And yet I still love him.

I didn’t know why my dad was a Liverpool fan. I was just prepared to endure his lack of taste in football teams, being as we’re from Warrington - the wasteland between the two cities.

I always supported United, despite the fact that when I was growing up, you ****s just won everything. I always just had an affinity with Manchester, and an ambiguity/outright hostility towards Liverpool

Anyway.... tonight, for the very first time, he told me why he supported Liverpool. He went to school with Tommy Lawrence. So when his mate signed for the club, he supported them and has done since.

Knowing this now, I can almost forgive him his misguided judgement. Almost..... 😉

I bloody hope not as I have 3 tickets here on the table next to me.

I think they'll put 4 past Swansea.

IMO they're a much better proposition than previously against the lower sides now, mostly because of the attack, but also the pressing play.

They've only lost 2 this season, City away as most people have and Spurs.

Utterly bizarre decision. I normally like to see Wales doing well, but I can't see this being a successful appointment.

Cyrille was one of the classiest footballers, with a quiet dignity during a racially intolerant era.
Giggs great footballer but questionable morals. I wonder if he’ll bother with friendlies?

Wonder if he'll get huffy when Bale tries to swerve the friendlies?

Thought he'd have gone for a club job first to prove he's as good as he seems to think he is. Maybe a good move - failure to qualify for the Euros might not be seen as a massive failure for a pretty limited squad, Ramsay and Bale aside. So he does ok and then gets a Premier League club, I guess that's his plan.

So as suspected for quite some time the fat ****ing controller has absolutely no intention of selling the club in the immediate future if he ever had in the first place ..is there a football club owner anywhere more reviled than fat Ashley ?
Get some money spent you slug otherwise we are going down and with that we will lose the best manager we can ever hope to have under your regime ..
When I think what this club could be it boils my blood with this tosspot of an owner still in place ..

No chance! My bets are like the kiss of death!

I did make Salah captain on my fantasy football though. Which also has the same effect 😀

Another very happy Jack here! Table suddenly looking much better - quite a few teams now within easy reach - bloody Arse next up though. Gotta laugh at the awesome world beaters that are Liverpool - beat the best then lose to us

It'll be Andy Carroll, even though he's out for three months.

Or Mario Balotelli. 🙂

To be fair ‘relegation contender’ now covers the lower half of the table, it’s so tight.

Should make for a great end to the season, as you could see all the relegation places going down to the last game. And none of the top sides will want to play relegation contenders last few games of the season when they’re scrapping for their lives, as it’ll mean plenty more results like last nights

It’s certainly more interesting than what’s going on at the other end of the table, which now looks like a formality

You are right there Binners ..at least we have Man.City out of the way now ..
Martin..Andy Carroll is an interesting one 😀 .Im just waiting for a transfer window when we are not linked with him..if it ever got serious though ..naaah ..too much of an injury liability ..but to give the lad his due he has fluffed a few clear cut chances when playing against us ..
Gaimero is the name being bandied around..well we can dream !

Just because he's called Kevin, doesn't automatically make him some kind of saviour for your lot. 🙂

A proper cup upset there then, with Wigan dumping West Aaaaaaam out. Just settling down to watch Spurs v Newport. The pitch looks in worse condition than the one my daughter played on in Salford this morning. Should be interesting. 🙂

Seriously, wtf! Not convinced I like VAR, even though it's just gone very much in favour of my team

Dont mind VAR at all - I can put up with 4 minutes wait if the right decision is reached - think it adds to the tension anyway - all good in my opinion 🙂

The odds on a West Brom win against the team that lost to Swansea last weekend were 11/1

seriously!

So it seemed rude not to stick a couple of quid on some comedy defending, once you see Mignolet is on the team sheet

Cheers! 😀

VAR is great for sports like tennis when the decision is completely obvious - eg, the ball is either in or out. The decisions required in football are often much more subjective and the time taken and the crowd not seeing the incident or the reasons behind the outcome are also problematic.

Oh FFS, Pardew's blaming injuries on the VAR system.

That was a pitiful capitulation. Surely Rafa must be reaching the point where he’s had enough. I know the fans love him, and it’s clearly mutual, but now it looks like Ashley has scuppered any takeover, a world class manager like him must be looking for more than trying to keep a team of mediocre players up, for a disinterested owner with no ambition other than to make himself even richer? Especially when said owner is also an utter ****!

I couldn’t believe the stat that Shearer came out with the other day that the most Newcastle have ever spent on a player was 16 million for Michael Owen in 2005

True. I think we probably got more goals out of Owen than you, and he came to us on a free 🙂

wonder how many city are going to put past Cardiff here?

I thought Benitez played a blinder today in terms of putting pressure on Ashley ..saying that he loved the club , fans & city  but would wait to see what sort of backing he got in the transfer market this month and wether or not we were still in the Premier league in the summer before commiting to a new contract ( Ashley has been trying to get him to sign a new deal ) ..gotta love the bloke for doing that ..

Over to you chubby ..but another .."well we tried our best but just couldn't get the deals over the line "..just won't cut it this time ..that card has been played at least 3 times too often ..fans have been patient for Rafa' s sake but all out war is very close ..

That was one of the worst refereeing performances I have ever seen. So many poor decisions, and the way he handled them, the players (from both teams) lost all respect and stopped listening to him.

Couldn’t agree more. Absolutely farcical for the second (perfectly legitimate, disallowed) goal. And then as clear a straight red as you’ll ever see. Proper nasty challenge. Late, high, studs up, malicious!  No intention of playing the ball, just take the player out! Waved away with a yellow

Ironic that with the introduction of VAR this weekend we see some of the dodgiest refereeing i’ve ever witnessed.

i don’t think this bodes well
