Spare a thought for me Caher. Also a Reading fan, my home town club and all that but I also have a soft spot for my Mum's home town club, as it was also my grandad's and he used to take me back when I was little in the 70's, and then I went myself in the 80's when I was at University down the road. Newcastle 🙄 So whichever way i turn there's misery afoot.

Is this really going to end 0-0? Who had palace in the sweepstake to end city's winning run?

BEst players
De gea - GK
Cant say any defender is that outstanding tbh
Midfield- De Bryune
Attack - Kane

Best signing Salah

Man u have top class, almost world class, water carriers in all positions except for when they play attackers in the wrong position

Essentially they have no payer who gets the ball and runs at the opposition and teams know every move ends with a sideways pass
It needs three things
1. Creatuvity
2 Genuine wingers or outside forwards but not mata or martial or rashford [ all trying their best] played out of position
3. Manager who is not just process focused. I dont think Jose, like arsene, methods work anymore and he can either adapt or demise. great managers adapt - I dont think he can personally. He is also a massive arsehole and his treatment of Sham, in particular, but payers in genera is to provoke and hope for a reaction. Eventually the reaction is for everyone to hate the manager.
He also cannot develop players, no one gets better under him, they just perform at their level

Well that was eventful, not many 0-0's that can be said about.

You can always tell when someone’s going to bottle a Penalty. Perhaps they should have let Benteke take it? 😆

Great performance from Palace though, and a great game for a 0-0

With regard to Newcastle, it’s a travesty what that club has become. But Mike Ashley will never have any other consideration for anything other than making more money for Mike Ashley. The bloke really is an utter and complete **** and I hope you’re rid of him soon

It was also class to see Guardiola and uncle woy, sat in the dugout having a friendly chat while their players got treatment at the end.

Strange refereeing in the first half, when the ref wouldn't let the physio on to treat Jesus. Also an odd penalty decision, 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other, Walker had made 3 or 4 stronger challenges muscling Zaha off the ball previously, and there were a couple of incidents where palace players made strong challenges in their own box that went unpunished, so the ref went against how he was refereeing the game up to that point in punishing that one, so I thought justice was done when he took such a poor penalty.

Hope al the players stretchered off are ok, I don't think the injuries really reflected the spirit in which the game was played, it was tough but fair in the most part.

Over the moon with today's result (Stoke 0 v 1 Toon ) ..with Brighton & Bournemoth sharing the points & Huddersfield losing it has closed the gap on some of our relegation rivals as any team from 11th place down are currently in that kind of fight .
Not expecting in typical Newcastle fashion anything but a Luton win in the FA Cup next week as you can bet there will be at least a handful of kids playing ..

From BBC website at half time

What do you get when you cross a typical Sam Allardyce performance with a typical Mourinho away from home performance?....nothing. That's what. Absolutely nothing.

Here is hoping for a 5 goal plus second half!?!?

Christ, this is dull! I wish Big Sam had stuck to his guns when he said he was taking some time away from football

Seems like the only strategy Jose has is telling everyone to just have a crack from 30 yards out. The trouble with that being there will be 11 Everton players between them and the goal, guaranteed

At Least Mata has his shooting boots on. 2 cracking saves from Pickford, from two stinging strikes. Everyone else is just spooning it into row Z

I wonder if any Everton players have any plans to venture into the other half for the rest of the game?

Edit: nice one Tony Mashall!!! 😀

I love the way it's always someone else's fault, never Utds.

No comments about Liverpool winning again? Or Chelsea. Or does it not fit your agenda to abuse all other teams.

Hmmm.

Pogba was much better further forward. And Lingard.....scores some stunning goals and misses absolute sitters! Nice to see a young player getting some game time.

Ffs. So many half arsed teams in the prem and yet Pellegrino will get us relegated. So painful to watch.

@caher

What now? Birmingham haven't scored more than a single goal in a game since August, not won away all season, bottom of the league.......

Turn up at Reading, win 2-0, easy peasy.

Sooner or later curto80 you'll fail to pick up quality replacements for the players you sell. Might be this season - big transfer window now, unless the board get twitchy. Sacking Puel doesn't look to clever now.

So city to have this wrapped up by the end of March?
CL places will still be getting sorted in May though, hoping Newcastle can start plodding along now with the others dropping as they can below.

Got to say there is a feeling of justice that the injury Puncheon got while making that bloody awful tackle on KDB at weekend is going to keep him out for the rest of the season.

@theotherjonv Stam needs to be replaced by an experienced manager/coach. Getting fed up with foreign owners getting in big name ex footballers with no experience just to massage their own egos.

Eeek. Saw that a while ago. Nice to have the cash, but not so easy to find the talent again. Insane profit though from £8.5m purchase price and in the doldrums at Inter.

He'll be missed.

My big hope is that people respect his choice, I'm a passionate Liverpool fan and I do, he gave his all time and time. He deserves legend status. Sadly, with football being so fickle I'm not sure he will.

I don't think he deserves "legend" status. But look, he wants to go, Barcelona want to stump up a lot of money for him. There really is no point trying to hold onto him. I'd thought he'd see the season out and see what he could do the in the UCL knockout stages, but I now suspect this "deal" was done in the Summer. I'd hope that there are no panic buys. His creativity, free kicks and shots from outside the box will be sorely missed - Henderson, Lalana nor Can (who might be on the way as well) can't do what he does.

How do you replace a player that good? Without spending all the money you got for him, half of which has been spent already? That transfer fee has probably added 20 million to anyone you want to buy.

He’s truly world class. It’s not just the goals he scores, it’s what he creates. But what can you do? If someone wants gone, then they’re gone. Fair play to him though. He’s not done a Sanchez and had a massive sulk. He’s put a shift in every game he’s played. The premierships loss, not just Liverpool’s

You’ve still got the best signing of this season already though in Salah, so that’s definitely softened the blow

Plucky second half display by all accounts from Luton..so fortunate to have got 3 goals in a nine minute spell in the first half ..
Great to see both of Rob Lee's sons getting some game time ..a great servant to the club over a 10 year period in the Entertainers era ( sigh ..will we ever see those days again ? )

Chelski’s second string were woeful against Norwich today. Sloppy, lethargic and static. Norwich probably deserved the win. Willian was the only Chelski player who actually turned up today

Glad they’ve got a replay. Another extra game we don’t have to play 😀

Hughes to join the Pardew/Moyes/Allardyce managerial merry go round!

Echo the sentiments above about Coutinho - this season he seems to have added consistency to his performances. In previous years he has gone missing a bit at times and when he's bad, he's truly rank. Liverpool will need to buy to come close to even half replacing him. Lallana has the creativity but not the goals and is pretty inconsistent. The rest are plodders, and I've never got why Juventus seem so keen on Can.

There was a certain inevitability to that. Stoke have been shocking this season and getting progressively worse

Great performance by Forest here. They’re playing Arsenal off the park

Edit: that provided the usual kiss of death 😆

What a game, this is?!! 😯

The hubris of City fans after hammering a poor 10 man side at home always meant this would be very enjoyable. I had this feeling at 4-1 - was thinking “could really do with VanDyjk on the field now to keep it steady.”

But yes allthepies, you went waaayyyyyy too early with that. 😆
