Dog person

Siamese are the only acceptable felines. They're not cats, though, they're far superior.

Like them both. We get a load of visiting cats and I always like it when they take the time to stop and chat, you feel more respected when a cat gives you time of day.

But all the cats in the world can't compete with one old dog

(Also I seem to be the only person in the world that isn't that impressed by alpacas, we had some at work today and everyone lost their shit. It's just a sheep with delusions of grandeur)

I hate everyone and everything equally. I don’t discriminate.

So obviously i’m a cat person.

I’ve got two of the ****ers who constantly reflect my contempt for the world right back at me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Dog owners.... your house stinks! Seriously... it’s minging! You may have got used to it and think it doesn’t. It does. And it’s horrible.

Muslims won’t have dogs in their houses as they think they’re filthy animals. They’re right.

I am a cat and dog person.  4 cats and 2 dogs but only because cats are at least twice as easy to look after (even when the dogs are half the size of the cats)

Yeah, you are right. There’s no doubt about that. But I’d rather it stink of dog farts than cat piss.

They may be but studies have found people with dogs have stronger immune systems so them being dirty is a good thing.

Another bipetual here, comfortable with either. Though I'd be happier with a dog.

Edit: whilst dogs do indeed smell, nothing can prepare you for the stink of Bassett hounds, especially those with allergies. Even weekly trips to the groomers with medicated shampoo struggled to get rid.

We like and have had both ..the last being a cat who lived to be 21..

Currently we have neither ..consistently talk about having a dog but realise that we wouldn't have the time to look after it properly ..

Cats are a ball of controlling contempt. Currently I am scrunched I a ball as one insists on taking up the bit of the bed my legs should go...

the dog does the same but seems to be less judgemental about it....

mind you I want to go home to see the dog much less so the cat

Also I seem to be the only person in the world that isn’t that impressed by alpacas, we had some at work today and everyone lost their shit. It’s just a sheep with delusions of grandeur

Its a weird sheep but with the latent unpredictability and disdain of a horse.

I have loved all my dogs and cats whose companionship I have had the pleasure of over the years. They all have had their jobs to do around the place and all did so without complaint and endless energy and joy de vie. But more recently I am increasingly finding these endearing little monsters to have far more character and intelligence than most people would ever give them credit for..

My ex started talking about marriage and kids. We got a cat. Then we split up after she understood that I wasn't getting married or having kids and I got custody.

The current girlfriend tried the same conversation. We got another cat.

We're coming up to 4 years together which means it's probably time for another cat.

I like some dogs but no others, would never own one.

I love cats and it feels like a home is empty without one, preferably two.

I just love their independence and DGAF attitude, they live life on their terms.

Utterly loathe cats, pointless creatures.  Dogs can be a right pita due to their owners not training them.

OK for cats and dogs - 2 dogs, 3 cats. But where do we stand on equines - wife has 6 (1 horse, 3 ponies, 2 donkeys)? We seem to end up with bits of tack and other paraphernalia in every room of the house.

Cats don’t make your house smell, but there’s this..

We were told that cats don’t like leather sofas, so they’re the best to have. Yeah, right. 2 weeks after our two leather sofas were delivered the cats had absolutely trashed them!! Little shits!

I’m just looking at one of the little bastards now. He’s asleep inside my rucksack. Which means when I put anything in it it will be covered in hair.

I really don’t know why we’ve got them. We must be mad!

Do you mean this seriously?

I think I prefer cats and to a lesser extent dogs, more than the people who own them. I like neither.

Surely it is cruel to keep a sentient animal for ones own pleasure?

That's pretty much my life ambition right there.

A cat will dump you for somewhere better if you fail to keep it correctly.  Even if you do things right it'll still try other places out!  It's a bit like being married but carrying on using Tinder.

Cats for me. I like dogs but couldn't give one enough time and energy to satisfy responsible ownership.

At the beginning of this month, we had to have Mushroom put down. She was nineteen years old. We miss her much.

We still have Button our eight year old big guy.  And we have Ted. He's our spare cat who turns up for a fuss and a bowl of food. They are very funny and clever animals.

Technically we have 3 cats, but the other one, after me rescuing it from an animal sanctuary, paying for its jabs, stayed with us for a fortnight then moved in 5 doors down as he didn’t get on with the other two.

You never actually ‘own’ a cat. They’re mercenary little shits

4 cats.....

Started with 2 over 20 years ago. Currently have a big 11 year old Tortie, a rescue 1 year old ginger ninja short hair tabby with no teeth (cost us a fortune) and two 4 month old Ragdoll's.  The older tabby is anti-social, but the other three are great fun.

Actually...probably not. A mate of mine hates cats but likes dogs & another mate doesn't really 'like' either.

I do prefer cats & dogs to some people though.

Dogs are noisy, needy, dirty & smelly. Bit like children really,  cant stand them either.

Cats don’t make your house smell

Just like with dog owners, you’ve grown accustomed to the stench. Trust me they make your house smell. I do like cats though. Not as much as proper dogs (border collie sized and up), but they are pretty cool.

As per Perchy, large flightless birds, Camels, Llamas and their kin can **** right off. I’d happily eat them until they were extinct and I’m not even a big meat eater.

Houses with cats in don't really smell, unless they're a weirdo who makes it use a litter tray rather than shitting in the garden.

The smelliness of dogs vary massively depending on the breed too. Some can be unbearable, but others are barely noticeable.

One can usually identify a car which is an ex-Motability vehicle, by the ‘interesting’ fragrance that’s a mixture of wet dog and stale cigarettes. With possibly unidentifiable fluids mixed in...

Cats come into my garden and hunt the birds I feed. Plus I’m allergic to them.

While I have no problem with either cats or dogs, generally speaking, I would never have either in the house.

There’s also feeding them, although it’s costing me a small fortune feeding the birds and and the increasing herd of hedgehogs that are treating my garden as a drive-through restaurant! 😬

Dogs,cats, people?

You lot need to get to the next level.

Plants are where it's at.Far more rewarding, can look and smell great, bring joy to the spirit year after year and can last for ever far longer that a human lifetime.

Don't argue back ,don't chew your slippers and don't leave smelly presents behind the TV or spray on your sofa and you' don't have to pick up their shit.

Guinea pigs for the win...

(Hate cats with a passion, mainly due to their regular poo deposits in our garden; if I'm really lucky they'll leave me a wormy one as a special 'treat'.)

Three cats and a dog that came with the wife. Dog is a pain in the arse. Needs walking, feeding, his shit picking up &  head patting far to often. He also stinks, he digs up the grass a add holes all over garden. West highland terrier.

Cats are just ace. Exercise themselves, can eat when they want (if the white thing hasn't hoovered it all up), they shit in the neighbours gardens, they don't smell.

They do wreck the furniture which is a bit annoying.

This a picture of Cat number 3 who likes to live in our sons room.

Dog.

Cats are for people who want pets but can't be arsed to look after them. (see alexandersupertramp answer)

Not that i have either in my house at the moments. Dogs do tend to smell rather of dog.
