It would seems so after the first bike race.
Watched the last 15 minutes of the bike race, after the usual BBC flannel I turned it over to catch up the days events on Sky News (I know ๐ ) They might as well be asking for team GB to be taken out and executed, cut to Box Hill and lets interview nobody's who haven't seen a bike in 20 years complaining how disappointed they are.
So, back to usual British Pride then?
....well people can be more honest about the Opening Ceremony (2h) now!! ๐ณ

This reads to me like: "How dare you pay an interest in MY sport!!"
Nothing wrong with paying an interest in something your country is good at, and being disappointed when the result doesn't go there way.
They zipped past my gaff with that 11-man breakaway in front and with the Team GB leading the main peloton. I was hanging out of the upstairs window cheering them on. It was a fantastic half-second of action that I'd been following since 10 o'clock.
I went back to the TV and five minutes later after turning off the Stoke d'Abernon road, they'd lost it before even getting as far as the M25 road bridge.
Oh poo. By Esher high street it was all over.
Perhaps the ladies will get one back for us tomorrow. I won't cheer this time just in case it was me that put them off... ๐ฏ

Exactly what I thought.
No spoiler here then, thanks ๐ฅ

Does it? hmmm never noticed but then I've been out all day in one Britain's finest engineer's garden and doing the Great British thing of picking rasps and strawberries.
Oh and if we have to honest about the ceremony now the cycling is over then Ok I still think it was excellent. Not sure why I'm answering that part it's clearly Teamhurt trolling again as he didn't get a bite the ceremony thread.
I thought the ceremony was terrific after the sheep and cricket bit which was faintly embarrassing, to be honest. The cauldron was just gob-smacking.
I didn't quite understand the use of Pink Floyd's magnum opus about madness, though.
Perhaps they were focusing too much on the penultimate line of the last verse...
I'd be interested to hear what non-British viewers thought of it, I mean - the Radio 4 shipping forecast? Hmmm.
Yeah the build up before with Teletubby hill was a bit odd, then it made sense when they went through the ages and destroyed it into an industrial site.
Looks like Olympic Whining is back again...

Not at all, what it meant was as usual they interview armchair pundits who have no idea what it is like to be in the saddle for 5+ hours and still have to sprint like mad to the finish (not that I have), In the same way that you always seem to hear from fat lager louts who've never kicked a ball since school spraff on about how they could play better than <Insert footballers name here> to anyone who'll listen.
All I mean was that maybe rallying behind the british team should last a little longer than a fireworks display and the sponsored tampons running out.
Blimey Drac, have a sense of humour. The OC was excellent for the first half! Made me proud to be a Brit. (2h reminded that I was indeed a Brit! ) ๐
P.s. plus after generosity wasn't the theme abut the ability to take the mickey out of ourselves/have a sense of humour!

The queen rubbish put aside I loved it.
It struck me that anyone with any knowledge of cycling would have known that a cav win was entirely dependent on the tactics of the other teams, not just how strong gb are and how they rode. But the BBC seemed to be treating it as te biggest upset in the world ever at times which did start to wind me up.
Still, plenty more Brits to cheer on
Tessa Sanderson was on C4 news saying Cav shouldn't complain about the other teams' behaviour, it's sport and that's the way things are...
In principle I would agree but I'm not sure she understood cycling teams generally work together in those kind of circumstances...
So I was left wondering why they asked her for her opinion... I think the OP's unhappiness with people knowing nothing about a sport complaining about a non-result is fair. It's a bit like someone who's never done your job coming up and telling you you're doing it wrong... yes, everyone's entitled to an opinion but if you're going to criticise at least know something about your subject!
Reminds me of the overweight kid who heckled me as I rode through Wandsworth about an hour after the peleton had passed... clearly didn't ride a bike much but still felt entitled to offer a negative opinion!
There are far too many people on TV/radio talking about stuff they don't understand. Asking members of the public is fine, but it is a sign that a journalist is out of ideas.
BBC Sport have been caught out by recent cycling success. They have specialist correspondents who spend all their time on their sport, but the guy who covers cycling is a generalist. Tennis has its own correspondent who follows the pro tour around the world and we've only got one top tennis player.

"To be honest with you mate," one punter told us at the exit, "I'm bored s**tless."
