Thanks for tirelessly tolerating my "what car" threads...I eneded up with something I don't think anyone here suggested!

I'm in new-owner honeymoon phase, it's fantastic, half the tax/fuel costs of the MX5, feels faster. Got quite a few wee things to do to it.

Pimp. There's a brabus one rotting outside a garage on my way to work, I often wonder if it could be rescued. Bit it'd be a right laugh.

Love it. I think they're going to be something that ends up going up in value within a few years. They were before their time in lots of ways. I bet it would make a fantastic electric conversion one day.

A mates knock off who he's now married once picked us up from the pub in one of those. One at a time obviously, I was quite suprised at how nippy it was 😆 I then had a little battle (all be it a bit one sided) from the lights down the 38 in the scoob not long after and was suprised how keen it was.

Nice. I'm looking for a car that's a bit of fun but a) I don't think I'll fit in one of those and b) I can't see it fitting Mrs Danny, babybgoode and assorted crap that gets lugged around in my car!

That's really nice.... Much prefer the glass back version you have there.

Look after the oil changes, the bores in the engine went oval at 50k on our four two ... It's pretty common as well.

Briliant wee car that! The wife and I spent two weeks touring Tuscany years ago in one of those, quite how she managed to pack a tent, sleeping bags, clothes etc in it I'll never know! Flappy paddle gearbox, seriously good handling and a peppy engine.......love it!

Excellent choice. I too like the 'coupe version with the glass hatch.
Watch out for the seals around the roof, they were terrible and fixed or attempted to be fixed under warranty.
The engines need looking after, you can't successfully do oil changes unless you have the suck pump thingy.
Have you thought about a stage 1 tune? Loads of Smart service experts out there who will be able to help, try SmartArse in Surrey..

Other than that Ace.

I've owned ForTwos in the recent past and love them.

where will the bike go?

quite - there's not enough room to swing a spoon in there.

I like it 🙂

Cheers all, I've done my homework and an aware if the issues.

As a treat the gears stopped doing anything this morning 😀

Got a few things to sort but will look at getting the condition improved rather than performance, it's fast enough.

I'd like to get the noise down a bit too.

I think. I can get an upright rack clamped on the hatch

Updates will follow!....

A friend of mine was rambling on about getting one of those with a knackered engine and transplanting a busa (or similar) engine into it.

Just need to convince him to go through with it now...

No gears? I'm guessing that might have some consequences in the preformance department.

I wonder why?

I like red for a car colour.

Nice! 😀
Re' the gears, it won't change between drive and reverse without your foot on the brake if that's when it happened it just goes into neutral,
As said above a remap works wonders and it's worth joining Evilution Smart for loads of info on repairs/mods and general advice, and find a Smart specialist for any big jobs as most garages don't have a clue what to do with em, there's loads of horror stories about places only changing three plugs during a major service and not knowing they're a twin spark head for example,

Have enviously eyed up a Brabus version locally that's for sale. Totally ridiculous for my needs but it looks so nice. Congrats and enjoy!

Remember driving one of those a few years ago, up the A93 over Glenshee to Ballater, damn good fun.

Khani has it. I am tempted by a remap but it kind of feels fast enough as is...and it must hike the insurance?

I've been on TR.n and there's a garage in the central belt they all love. Will look at evilution.

There was a guy with one of those where I used to work... We always used to talk about swapping for a week (I have an MX-5) but never got around to it.
