Before I tell which programme, let's see what funny suggestions STW can come up with as to the program and the reason he is going on it.

Loose womben.

EDIT: As a slight tangent I've spend the last 6 weeks on 'gardening' leave and between the actual gardening, I have a genuine sympathy for those that are forced to be at home this much during winter.. Either dross on telly or dross on radio (apart from Ken of course). However I'm fully now fully refreshed on Knight Rider and Scrapheap Challenge.

Jeremy Kyle.

STW broke my heart when they updated the forum I couldn’t quote, they then had the weekend off.

Is it Jeremy Kyle?  Has ‘your friend’ shagged his girlfriends dad, then they’ve made a go of it, adopted Thai triplets and become highland cattle farmers in the outer Hebrides?

I was going to say Village of the Year, but if someone is ‘going on daytime TV’ I guess that means it’s live, does it?

Some brilliant replies : )

He is a police officer in Herts, PC Dave Wardell, and in 2016 he and his Dog Finn were stabbed detaining a suspect.

There is a campaign to get the law changed as the injuries to Finn were classed as criminal damage. Finn was stabbed through the lung and required life saving surgery.

Dave has written a book about the incident, which is going to be discussed on this morning.

I can just picture Holly Willoughby's erm face, as she sincerely recounts the extent of the poor dog's injuries. It'll be riveting.

I’m struggling to see what actual benefit such a law would bring? Presumably someone attempting to stab a police office is pretty desperate and an extra law is not going to prevent them.  Therefore it’s about punishment, but 1. Usually the person being detained will have committed more serious offences anyway; 2. Sentencers already have scope to take into account the nature of the offence - maximum sentence for criminal damage 10yrs, maximum sentence for ABH 5yrs; prosecutors will have a host of other charges such as carrying a knife, obstructing an officer, resisting arrest, maybe some animal cruelty stuff they can add to the mix but all the linked stuff will usually be served concurrently so only the most serious offences determine the ultimate sentence.

im not saying it’s totally logical but is this really the biggest problem the country or police face?

Makes complete sense to me. Police dogs are living breathing animals and they have a choice as to whether they protect their handler or not.
The crim was going to use the knife on the PO but the dog got there first - what would the crim have got if he'd killed the PO?

At the moment, any service animal who gets injured or killed will be classed under Criminal Damage. For example, Finn was a 7 years old Dog when he got stabbed so what is he worth in monetary value ? £20 ?

The fact he is a police dog who cost thousands to train wouldn't be taken into consideration. So. The offender would have been charged with criminal damage worth £20, £30, £40 whatever the court decided Finn was worth.

If the new law does come into force, it will also cover Guide Dogs, Polce Horses etc.

I absolutely support the introduction of a law that recognises service (all) animals as more than property. Having seen on multiple occasions what these amazingly talented animals can do for no more than the love and attention of their handler the least we can do is ensure that if some scum bag feral underclass thinks they’re fair game they are punished in a comparable manner as if it was a human victim.

These animals take years to train, more often doing jobs too dangerous or difficult for humans, in a financial sense they are worth their weight in gold. Some suffer the same effects as humans after the things they experience (Manchester bombing).

Please pass on my wishes to your pal both for his work and his promotion of this law.
