I need to come up with ideas for a head office phone system. Needs approx 10+ extensions, accessed via keypad tones, all coming in on one number. This must be done by companies left right and centre, what is the standard method?

MD has just dropped this on me. I've no idea where to start, or what to look at. I dont even work at head office, so don't know what system currently does! So apologies if the question sounds a bit woolly, it's because I'm way out of my depth.

MD is not someone to argue with. Please help STW, you're my only hope.

Go for a hosted VOIP provision - plenty of options out there - should give youthe flexibility to do whatever you need too.

BT Cloud Voice worth a look if you want the reassurance of a 'name'. Not that my dealings with BT have been great business wise, but recognisable. Vodafone also do an offering but the name escapes mew.

I think it depends on what your incoming line is, as in is it a full E1 circuit to a business.
If they already have broadband then this article may help

More details and I may be able to help out more, by asking some of the people I work with.

OneNet... we use it. It's OK and does exactly what the OP wants, plus integration with mobile phones if wanted.

We use MS Lync which is business version of Skype (I believe) It is very good indeed.

That is all of my knowledge.

Thanks for everyone input. I've put all the (albeit vague*) suggestions forward to the MD, and now ducking for cover...

*me being vague, so I look like I'm not up to the job 😉

Where is the business located? I work for a company that supply hosted VOIP in the North West and North East.

VF OneNet is actually pretty good.

Disclaimer: I work for Vodafone.

I would go for a small onsite PBX. Online hosted systems are fine if you have no capital or will be moving at some point in the future and they have lots of features however an onsite PBX with 10 users will pay for itself in no time and you will have online fees forever.
Where are you based I can put you in touch with a supplier who is extremely reliable and they specialise in small office installs. They will help you wade through the ISDN/SIPP stuff.
