MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
The final piece in the Christmas present puzzle is possibly a smart speaker for our youngest (11).
Our eldest has the larger of the two Google speakers that he uses with our home Spotify account.
Seems that Google no longer sell their speakers or if they do are only direct 🙄
Looking at alternatives the Apple speakers seem well reviewed but their integration with Spotify isn't straight forward.
Anyone have experience of using an Apple speaker and Spotify* or offer some alternative options?

It's not the answer you are looking for, but, at about 3 years old I bought my boys mini systems for 20-30 euro secondhand. They can play CD or Bluetooth or radio (not that ever tried tbh). One is a Philips/Gibson that sounds amazing and the other is a Pioneer. They both have aux in and cost nothing Vs the sound quality they offer. No smarts required, physical media ftw 😉
My kids have Apple Homepod Minis in their rooms. They are great, but are used with Apple Music. I can't imagine that there are not better options (Amazon Echo Dot?) if you want/need to to use Spotify.

There's loads of Google speakers on eBay

CEX et all are full of them too.
Amazon echo dot can be setup with parental controls and Spotify is supported. Some have an aux out if you want to connect them to a better quality speaker

I've got an Echo dot for the bedroom, I don't use it much other than streaming podcasts and documentaries but it's pretty good sound quality for music too, especially for its size and got some really neat features.
When its on sale for £30 like it is now you do get a lot for your money... I'd hestitate at the full price of £55 though as they are on sale on a semi regular basis, so don't pay that!
That said it sounds suprisingly decent too, and apparently you can buy a second one so you can wirelessly run them as a stereo pair which is pretty nifty and i imagine would sound pretty good!
Also works well with BBC sounds and Spotify
