Yeah it's crying out for a quarter-back type  of midfielder..someone who can put the ball on a plate from 60 yds..  is always looking to play a forward pass ..shame we left him behind ..

The ref is just out of his depth, no idea how to handle the players.

A draw, a win and a loss then sent home by a proper contender. Anyone dreaming of something different is going to be very disappointed (again)

Just logged on to type '****'s sake England!'

But still - ****'s sake England only now with a slightly different tone of voice.

To be fair - they looked a lot more positive than usual, they have had nearly all the ball fluffed a fair few shots that should've been nailed on.

Tunisia - the Motherwell of the world cup.

Couldn't quite see the match out. Still, entertaining to hear the commentators losing their shit.

The final whistle line up might be the starting line up against Belgium

Tunis defended really rather well TBF....  not sure they had a shot on goal.... but defend well as individuals and as a team.

England need to learn how to play a ref, especially one so easily lead.

That will do those players the world of good.  Deserved win and a good performance apart from some players finishing.

Danny Murphy and Alan Shearer are painful. Give the jobs to some sports journos.

I'm struggling to see what part was so terrible, they played well in honesty. Made chance, passing, pressure.

Fortunate to get the win, but well deserved

throwing your elbow into the face of an opponent on the penalty spot right in front of the ref is pretty stupid don't ya think ?

I love it. Every Englishman is born with the ability to manage the national team, drive an F1 car and run the country, yet when any of them get the job they forget how. It's only the blokes in the pub or on the internet that can do it.

Maybe we should let the next manager do it from home via texts.

Stick on to get out the group now anyhow, fixtures working well for you, could go through at the weekend, 3 pts against panama, belgium win or draw against tunisia is all you need.

Easy route to the knock out stages if youse want it. then plenty of time to kick on.

Honestly Shearer is blunt, honest and knows a game really well

As for what went wrong, they played the ref better than us

I meant from the perspective of the overall performance.

There wasn't much in it for the pen.

He has to start Rashford next game. Sterling is hopeless!! Couldn’t hit a barn door with a shovel. And never seems bothered when he skies another sitter into row Z

I like lampard and fabregas. They used to have leonardo a few years ago he was good. Not keen on evra or Keane.

I think the winner on the night was the Ref, one Stevie Wonder. How on earth with VAR they missed two blatant pens I do not know. England struggle a bit when they get on the back foot and that's the one thing they need to get over. And that's from a Scotsman as well, I'd really like them to do well this tourney.

would have been nice to have at least one "non partisan" pundit on tonights panel

Shearer

As our record goalscorer and someone who is idolized by most Newcastle fans ..it pains me to say that having met  the bloke ..I found him to be a first class dick..

There are certainly two centre forwards who had they played the same number of games at Newcastle would have outscored him ..and were vastly superior in their all round play..

Malcolm MacDonald & Andy Cole .

And as a tv pundit ..boring as shit !

The choice in that position is Sterling or Rashford. For me it’s Rashford every single time.

and tonight just confirmed that

Sterling got 17 goals this season. How many did he put into row Z? If Rashford had the service Sterling has had at City all season he’d have got a lot more than 17, and he’d have a bucket-load of assists to back it up.

If Tunisia can find another 4 players they could do quite well in the 6 nations.

What the rugby tackles on Kane shows tonight is that the opposition are scared shitless of him. Two in your opening game? When you’re being clobbered like that. Bodes well.

Indeed. There was no elbow thrown because he didn't know the forward was there. They came together accidentally as he was shielding the ball and it caused the forward's legs to magically stop working. Happens all the time in the box but Stevie Wonder bought the scream and collapse.

Problem with the first rugby tackle on Kane was that Stones also clearly pushes his man negating the whole thing. Otherwise a clear pen.

The second one on Kane leaves no excuses re VAR. I'm not sure this Colombian officiating team are going to feature much in the tournament...

This should have been a red flag about this lot.

(oh, and Andy Cole > Shearer, bejesus)

It was poor defending but overall England were the better team, and were denied two clear penalties.

Don't you think they are different rashford needs to be running to come alive where as sterling works in tighter spaces arriving to get those important tap ins. You don't get in that city squad if you are shit.
