Hi,

What are my options? I live about 3.6 km from the nearest BT phone exchange and as a consequence get less than half a meg on a good day. What are the chance of BT building new exchanges? Can you find out if BT are likely to add fibre broadband soon?

I checked using http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_mapping and have a master plug plate thing.

Thanks.

Does your speed change at all if you remove the plate and plug directly into the test socket?

Other than using the samknows broadband checker, I'm out. Sorry.

3.6km as the crow flies, road distance or cable distance? I'm 3.2km cable distance (I know the cable route as I used to be a local BT engr a long time ago) and I'm synching up at 5.4down and 0.8up.

You say 1/2 a meg on a good day is that what your router syncs up at or what your download speed is? What are your line attenuation and SNR figures?
