We will be in touch
We're thinking of spending 5-7 days there on a campervan tour and looking for inspiration
I was planning on staying near Bohinj or Bled to give us access to nice places. The plan is to do some walking including Mt Triglav.
Can anyone recommend any nice campsites? And any places to visit, things to do whilst there?
The valley that goes from Tolmin to Bovec up over a pass to Kranjska Gora is stunning, loads of campsites when I was there about 6 years ago. Bled is lovely nice campsite just a bit out of town. Capital is worth a day sipping coffee and site seeing. The caves at Postojna are great but its a bit like Blackpool. Loads of good biking around too.[img]

We stayed here: Kamp Koren and really enjoyed it. Beautiful surrounding area and right on an amazing river.
thanks, that Kamp Koren looks good
I've been skiing in Kranjska Gora & Bohinj so I've seen how gorgeous that area is. Looking forward to doing some walking in the Julian Alps.
We might hire some bikes whilst there as I'm not sure I can be arsed lugging bikes around for 5/6 weeks when we'll be doing hut to hut treks and other stuff.
I'll recommend Kamp Lazar best campsite in Soca for sure...
There's another camp by camp Koren too I think? (edit: yes - camp Lazar) and another a bit further along the river to Bovec (that's maybe not so good).
We stayed in a B+B type place at the top of the road that goes up from Kamp Koren. Ace prices, but if you ride from the door, you know you have to finish with a long slog up. Kamp Koren (or the other one) is where we got a last fill of water and energy from (and cos it was 37C outside, it took a full 3 litre camelbak).
Somewhere near Mezica (close to Austria) was interesting too (don't know campsites). Riding thru the old lead mines was fun 🙂
Any more Slovenia buffs out there?
Not a "Buff" but been to both Bovec and Bohinj(twice)and will go back sometime. 😆
Good looking camp site near Bohinj just along the road from the ski lift at the end of the lake.
Bikes for hire were all basic with not much In the way of mtb info(as we know it). Lots of biking routes inc forest and farm roads through local villages etc. going "off piste " on walking trails is fun! As you may already know 😉
Bovec has some good bike hire shops compared to Bohinj, has the bike park. It is a much bigger town/village but I/we like Bohinj a little bit more.
