right , configuring a PC for the kids to use upstairs. XP with McAfee suite on there. Checked the parental controls, kids have limited access. Great stuff...
Just log in on the kids profile, and google a few 'adult' sites.. straight away a big list comes up, and no problems logging into them...So what am I doing wrong , or do I need a separate piece of blocking software?
Cheers..
Mick
I use K9 which does the job and is free.
Cant remember the link but Google is your friend.
Good luck
I've turned off parential controls, and use openDNS. Basically, you set your PC up to use the openDNS DNS servers, which check the site before allowing access. Can also be set up on the router so all PC's that use it are covered. Not 100% but pretty good. You select what level of protection you want, which includes the usual adult stuff, plus social networking, adverts etc.
Good thing about openDNS is that there's no software installed on the PC, just a change to the internet set up.
Cheers Rich, will check it out in the morning when sober! cheers mick.
easy option threaten the kids with the wrath of Sue 😉
