The inlaws are wanting the whole family to ski next new year ( i know it s a way off yet)this is 2 grandparents who are good on piste skiers, 2 families children aged 12 and 9 who have done 3 years of ski lessons ( 3 weeks) and one family with 3 children 12, 10 and 7 done a few lessons at a indoor ski place.

looking for resorts in france and either a hotel or catered chalet recommendations, reasonably close to slope and ski school. We have skied at Puy st vincent with our kids 3 years including this year.

Its over new year so somewhere with good beginner / intermediate slopes and hopefully good snow at new year.

cheers in advance

Big group of us stayed in a catered chalet in Alpe d'Huez that sounds like it would be ideal. I don't know what the record is like for snow at New Year though.

Call Jane at Bluebird Days. She has a lovely place in Peisey Nancroix. Perfect for Les Arcs and La Plagne.

I'd recommend Les Gets for a mixed family group. I really like the resort and there's enough skiing in the Portes Du Soleil to keep everyone entertained.

It's a bit low though so could be a bit of a gamble at New year, but Avoriaz should be OK.

Good recommendations above. Les Gets is great for kids but risky at new year. Avoriaz also good for beginners if you’re staying in the resort itself. Portes du Soleil also great for short transfer from Geneva airport.

Peisey is gorgeous and Les Arcs does actually have a good snow record. Les Rosiere just across the valley also good for families. Bit of a longer transfer from the airport though.

We stayed with the tasty ski company in morillon, access to all of grand massif if you've got enough snow to open the links. Shirt bus to samoens if not.

La Rosiere is a fairly quiet resort, very beginner friendly. The more adventurous can head over to La Thuille in Italy (connected resorts). It's also very picturesque. We did NY there about 7/8 years ago.
