Looks like we can get a good chalet there but wanted to check on:

- How / easy hard it is to get up to Meribel (we will be taking a bunch of 4 - 6 year olds up to ski school most days)?

- How long is the drive to Meribel centre?

- What is Les Allues like as a village? ie any nice bars, restaraunts.

- Any stuff for kids in the village.

Generally how much of a faff was it compared to being in Meribel itself

No need to drive to Meribel, it is served by the Olympic Bubble. There is also a regular bus service to from Meribel.

If good snow conditions you can ski back to Les Allues.

Should you choose to drive probably take 10 minutes to get to the Chaudanne

Bit of a trek if you ask me. Plenty of family resorts around with proper ski-in-ski-out and something for everyone to do in the evenings.

Have you considered La Tania?
I've been going there for years and still not covered everything in the 3V's?

Its cheap there, ski in ski out, has great kiddy slopes.

stayed there quite a long time ago - access to chaudanne was fine as mossimus said, but les allues didn't have much going on at all

Try La Tania or Le Praz instead. La Tania is quite a nice little place.

I haven't done Les Allues, but I did stay down in Brides-les-Bains one year... NEVER AGAIN!

the olympic bubble takes forever, and although it will take less time to get to les allues, the last lift down is about 5.30; which means you can never go to the pub for more than one beer, and every day is ended with utter tedium in the lift.

Find somewhere else if you can :o)
