I'm watching a barely used lens on ebay which is ending at about half past three this afternoon. It's only got one bid, but other auctions of the same lens have 15-20 bids.

What gives? Should I be wary?

Plus, even if I snipe it at that price it's still $230 whereas new ones with warranties are only $300 from the cheapest places.

Not sure if the warranty and possible after-sales support are worth $70.

People are holding back, sure it will realise approximately the same price as the other lens in the end

Are you buying from abroad ($ signs) if so don't forget all the taxes on top

It's a US auction yes, but I'm in the fortunate position of being able to have it shipped and then go and pick it up in November 🙂

I think maybe the high starting price has put people off.
