I see the card suit 'clubs' symbol on many pro cyclists jerseys and bikes. Most recently on the Wiggle ladies teams jerseys. What's the significance of this please?

there's a thread on it here...

summary:

Mr Colnago felt so lucky after one of his team won a race into San Remo (the city of flowers), he changed the logo to the Ace of Clubs (which is sort of* called the Ace of Flowers in Italian).

or something like that.

(*a literal translation doesn't work very well, especially when i'm involved, and i don't speak italian)

In case anyone is wondering about the other suits: DeRosa has hearts, Mario Confente has spades, and Torpada has diamonds.

Ciocc has all four because the legend says that back in the steel frame days he made frames for all of the brands.
