following on from the sick thread earlier, I am off sick at the min, 3 weeks next wednesday i broke my arm quite badly, I have avery rare fracture to the Ulna and after a visit to the hospital today i have been signed off for another 6 weeks, but warned that will most likely end up at 8 weeks, 10 weeks total,

i've been with the company for 15yrs and get full sick pay for 8 weeks, stat for the rest,

until now i've had an almost perfect sick record (bar 3 days off for a pair of broken ribs)

BUT the problem is on the day of the accident a few hrs before, I got the offer of a lifetime from a company who had interviewed me 5 days before the crash, i accepted and they are aware of my current situation and happy to wait.

what i need to do is hand in my months notice while off sick, is this possible and does anyone have any knowledge of the possible outcome from this,

according to my contract i have to give 1 months notice, i presume they will have to pay me one full months pay plus any holiday owed ??

anyone got any thoughts please,

I'm sure that legally you are on safe ground. However it may feel a little immoral purely because you are off sick. Don't worry about it too much and try to explain to current employers as best as possible how you feel and what/why your doing it.

Needs real advice But yes - you would be entitled to a months pay and any accrued holidays. I don't see why you cannot put in your notice while off sick and indeed you could hold on longer to get all your sick pay then resign.

The only possible issue that I could think of would be a caveat in the sick pay pay conditions
Ours starts off by saying .....
"All sick pay is discretionary, however the company will pay 12 weeks full followed by 12 weeks half salary in cases where the sickness complies with and is in the spirit of the rules"

You should be OK though
