Got a new tv coming on Saturday which I want to wall mount. Not sure whether to flat mount it or put it on a swivel/extending arm bracket. The bracket I've seen only protrudes 45mm from the wall so won't look hideous when folded back.
Also not sure whether to have a unit under the tv on the floor for the sky box or mount the sky box under the tv. All cables will be behind the wall so that doesn't make any odds.
Show me yours to give me some ideas please.
Thanks.
I don't have a photo, but I fixed mine to the wall and then built a stud wall level with the screen, so the TV is effectively built into the wall. I built a couple of shelves into it to hold dvd player etc.
All the wires are behind the plasterboard, and the TV's on a mount that allows it to be pulled out of the wall in order to get round the back of it.
It looks lovely and neat, but it was quite a bit of work.
when you decide which bracket to go for, give me a shout.
we sell a whole range at a vastly reduced price in comparison to high street prices.
Ditto - ish; the bracket is fixed to the studwall directly; then it was plasterboarded around and finally skimmed; I can only just get the panel on and off without the 2nd part of the bracket fouling on the plasterwork. I did leave enough room to get cables in and through without removing the screen and I'm fortunate that all my connections are accessable from underneath; though it's a little awkward !
This: one here is the bracket we've got - been using it for about 8 years and it's been up and down twice in the old house and three times in the current one (!)
cheers ton, will do.
I'm also thinking about hiding the sky box out of the way. Anyone using an ir repeater system?
Grizla how did you get a neat finish round the edge where the plasterboard meets the screen?
I cut it very carefully with a fine saw, then tidied it up with a sharp knife and painted it with the emulsion I used on the wall.
The gap is only a couple of mm all round, so you don't notice the lack of finish.
I was originally planning to use some sort of trim round it, but decided against it, because it would have lost the "clean" look that it has.
It's a bit of a trade-off though, if I'm honest.
