A bit late, I know, but I just watched the installment of HIGNFY on iPlayer last night, hosted by William Shatner.
Is it me, or is he:
a) ageing almost unnaturally well
b) very funny in a self-depricating sort of way
and
c) excellent at hosting the show?
As an aside, if Hislop mentioned one more time that Murdoch was 'one of yours' (that is, an American - addressed to Shatner), I was going to throw my show through the computer screen. Shatner is Canadian. His accent doesn't even sound American.

Watched it at my parents at the weekend - he was fab to start with but I did get the feeling he was really obviously drunk towards the end, which spoiled it a bit.

I thought he was always like that. He's one of those celebs who have cheerfully become a parody of their stereotype.
Quality bit of programming though, enjoyed it.

Hislop isn't so bad I guess but Merton's been phoning it in for the last four or five years.
I found it strangely heartwarming - he seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself and was, indeed, awesome.

I found him to be embarrassingly obviously well under the influence on occasion, and pure brilliance on others. Jury out on an overall verdict.

He's also a Yank. The US has strict laws which sensibly prohibits foreigners from owning large chunks of their media. The UK has no such qualms, and is more than happy to allow foreigners to buy up the British media as they please, and even to some extent dictate UK government policy, just as long as they are wealthy enough.

They cut a fair amount out of the TV show to put it into the iplayer one. Quite a few jokes lost.
He was great, but Kathy Burke (the week before) owned it!
