A question to UK based bike mechanics really, when setting up your business what was required regarding insurance and trade accounts, I have had no success with some wholesalers, they don't seem to want to know about a new small business.
many thanks
Speak with Butterworth Spengler insurance liverpool and Yellow jersey insurance
Martin at the cycle division for small parts, larger parts if you look around at the big online shops you can get most parts for less than trade once your established you'll get accounts.
Dc
Try Bob Elliott, they’ve been fine with me as a mobile mechanic. I also got an account pretty easily with Windwave who stock all the BBB basics.
The cycle division are great for workshop stuff with out all the packaging waste as you can get bulk bagged stuff. Also for anything sturmy archer martin is great and very helpful
H&J Supplies (Moore Large) cover most workshop stuff, Jagwire / KMC etc ...
Kinetic Bike Bearings, Custom Cut Spokes...
A lot of places weren't interested when I started out (home based workshop), but once you get a few smaller accounts on board and get yourself on Facebook / Instagram so folk can see your doing a propper job, get yourself to some trade shows and speak to some suppliers, I've been doing it for a couple of years now and over that time got accounts with ZyroFisher, Extra UK, SilverFish, Upgrade, Ison and plenty others.
A lot of places have a minimum buy in on your first order which can be tough to do, plus there's minimum orders to get carriage paid, sometimes Trade price plus VAT & carriage can be more expensive than the likes of CRC / Tredz etc ...
Blatant plug ... RM CYCLEWORKS on Facebook/ Instagram
thanks for the info
