Its on autotrader as of the weekend, whats the best (safest?) way to take payment?
Also, whats the deal with people test driving, I guess I need proof that they're insured?

Cash but visit your bank with them to pay it in with the buyer present before handing over keys and docs.

yep. Refused people before - tell you there insured - drive them round to there house only for them to provide a bit of paper that says 'does not cover other vehicles'.

only for them to tell you they are looking to spend half that price 🙄

Why do you need to both go to the bank with the cash, just in case it's fake or just in case the buyer jumps you after you hand over the keys and grabs his cash back?!

mostly for fake.

but I'm a worrier and wouldn't want to be walking round with thousands in cash in case I lost it so makign sure it's the buyers money until it gets to the bank would suit me.

Same situation here. Our golf has just gone on auto trader and have had a call from a chap in Birmingham (we're in Chester) who asked a load of questions then offered £5200 (advertised at £5500). Said he would drive up and pay cash - but how would he deal with insurance & tax?
