I've got a little netbook that I've decided to sell (HP2133). Although I've not used it much, I am a bit concerned that I need to erase everything thoroughly before passing it on. I've run DBAN's "autonuke" and am about to reinstall the original SUSE operating system on it (I had put Win7 on but have migrated the licence to my new computer).
Does this sound as if I've taken enough steps to ensure no one can hack into deleted documents, passwords, personal information, etc.

Autonuke will have done the job I think.
It definitely looks the business and a quick Google suggests that it does the trick. I might run it twice and then put the OS on - hopefully belt and braces approach.

I was also looking at [url= http://www.whitecanyon.com/wipedrive-erase-hard-drive.php ]Wipedrive[/url] - $20 but ultra secure by the look of it and can do iPods, external HDs, etc. Might be worth the investment. I am a little paranoid about security (although not for any particularly good reason I hasten to add!).

Hahaha. Nonsense! Those programmes stripe a pattrn of data over the whole volume. Running it twice could never restore the volume, just makes the original data even less readable.
Run the military standard seven pass option to be sure nobody can ever recover data.
