Hi, planning Scotland for next year (westish mainland and isles), after interesting (scenic/remote/architecture/mellow - not cities etc) type places to stay (probably SYHA + camping, with odd B&B/hotel) and either not too techy scenic routes or classic routes - say 10 to 20ish miles.

Anybody know a good (not too techy)bothy ride ?

Ideas so far:
- Girvan *parents
- Lochranza
- Crinan Canal + Ardnoe forest routes
- Tulloch/Corrour/SYHA
- Loch Katrine plus steamer
- Torridon
- Skye
- Harris/Lewis
- Loch Choire(probably too far N)

Ardnamurchan point for remoteness and scenery if you got the time and the weather, excellent camping and beaches. There's 1001 recommendations tbh. Why not try something different and visit one of the "small isles". Rhum's got some nice hills maybe enough to occupy a couple of days, easy got get to but will feel way more remote than most Islands (all though there's heehaw biking 🙂 )

Your list sounds like a good starter. If that's what you have planned, then 1 year should just about be long enough.

Seriously though - you're going for too much. Pick one area and explore it.

gusamc, Gimme an email when you come to Ayrshire, I'm in Prestwick, not far from your folks in sunny Girvan. I'll gladly take you round some local hotspots if you have time, and I'd join you in Arran as well, as I know it pretty well now.

All the best.
