Are really ace! Anyone tried making their own? I quite fancy having a go at making some with chillies added into the mix

+1. I've always thought about making them. What to use instead of breadcrumbs?

Polenta.

(I mean, we all have a bag of it hanging around in the cupboard don't we?)

Make some mini scotch eggs with quail eggs, you won't be disappointed, also use the best sausage meat available.

I'm a fan of a decent Scotch Egg. Check out this place -

The Smokehouse variety are tops.

DD - welcome back mate.

Just had a beauty in a pub in Buckhorn Weston, still warm with a runny yolk. Local sausage meat and free range egg.
They do goose eggs as well, but sadly didn't have any today.
Looking forward to my next visit!

I made some at Christmas with black pudding mixed with the sausage meat - I believe they are known as Bury eggs. Lovely, especially with German curry ketchup

I think for next Christmas, I'm just going to do an ostrich scotch egg and nothing else.

Well, maybe some gravy.

My wife does really nice ones with rosemary mixed in with the sausagemeat and treacle cured bacon wrapped round free range egg. So nice warm or cold

Pssst, secret recipe...

instead of a boiled egg in the middle, try wrapping the meat round a pre made frozen ball of (proper thick, not wet) mushy peas

Swwet version - take one cadbury's creme egg, wrap in marzipan, roll in crushed amaretto biscuits.
Probably not iDiet compatible 🙂

Just to add to the list, a mate of mine also did a scotch ostrich egg once. He makes a mean pork pie too.

WOAH. *mind blown* 😯

Hmm very odd behaviour, peas instead of an egg, very odd 😛

Odd, but you know you want to try it...

I've also experimented with a black pudding core 😳

You can make an excellent selection of mixed 'party bites' in a revel's 'orange one' roulette stylee

That actually does sound good! Mushy peas on the other hand, blurgh.
