Humax etc

Can you output a digital signal - download recorded stuff onto a DVD/computer directly or does it have to go as RGB/Pal or whatever ?

(I know sky boxes have usb ports etc but don't think you can make use of them)

Probably depends on the recorder?

scart out of humax into av2 on a dvd recorder , record on av2.
to record onto a computer you need to download some software.

I was afraid that'd be all Ton - do they not even have Digital outputs (HDMI or summit?)

Have a look at the Foxsat HD PVR

I've not had chance to play with one yet but it may do what you need

cheers uplink

"...and will be capable of linking up to an external hard drive for further storage capacity..."

I like it when they talk that way!

(it's just disc spave that worried me - happy to store stuff on external disc (more happy than DVD actually))

If it's only the disk space that's an issue, buy the Foxsat, open it up and chuck a bigger hard drive in there.

A good resource for Humax products here

TBH, the real issue is that I want unlimited storage from a sky+ 🙁

but this'd be a way to approximately achieve that by diverting anything that's on freesat to this format & keeping sky for sky only

i have a toppy (topfield)

you can download the recording via USB to your pc and play them back with VLC player or convert them to AVI/MPG and record them to a DVD

TOPPY ROCK (tp5800 owner) you can custominse the look and feel to look very much like a sky plus box (without the annoy crap) and they have more power..
i can search all tv for the week and show all films etc.
depending on your setup (if you need HDMI) you can pickup a tf8510 cheap now

I've not seen a quad cable but WF100 twin is a good cable

Ton is your man for this sort of stuff as he works for a distributor
