Mods please move, sorry, haven't done that for ages!

Has anybody had a good experience with any Sales technique coaching/training? Have you had someone come into your workplace and train your team? If so, any names you can suggest?

I'm looking online and there seem to be loads of options, but need a recommendation.

Thanks

My boss has a thing for it, goes to a lot of those, some of the principles may carry over but there is a big difference between widgets by the million and very very low volume stuff. So i'd suggest focussing on what you are selling/market etc. when you look.

Our business is a service business, so it's telephone sales initially.

I'd also say from what I've seen it can also be a bit of a snake oil business 😉 but most do cater the the volume
People say no 7 times before they say yes
identify which quadrant of the sphere you are pissing in etc.

ABC, 7 touches, etc etc etc - it's all bollocks, total and utter bollocks and an industry full of shysters.

What's your product and what's is your market?

Sales requires empathy and honesty, not brow beating and fancy 'tricks'.

Interestingly enough, i was speaking to a company yesterday about this. The key thing to point out is that training is limited, what is required is coaching they are two very different things.

Anyway

salesblueprint.co.uk - Graeme Hall

They do a lot of work for investment companies looking to invest and want to know if the sales force is up to scratch, if not make recommedations and then train and coach accordingly. If you want an off-line discussion pop me an email.

Thanks all.

Business is the recruitment of specialist Engineers.

Agreed coaching is what's required. It's developing confidence and technique that's required in our team.

As a specialist engineer who recently had a million calls from recruitment people... hardly any of them had the faintest idea about me or the job. If you cant sell the job to me, how are you going to sell me to the company.

No amount of training / coaching / hitting with sticks will make your staff any good if they just want to fill their quota to meet targets.

I work for a global sales capability company (we don't like the word training because most 'training' doesn't work). We work with global companies like Intel, WPP, Cisco, PA Consulting, a lot of engineering companies, a few very large CPG companies, etc.

I doubt we are the type of company you'd be looking for but having spent ten years in this field now there's not a lot I don't know about the subject.

As a favour I'd be happy to spend some time on the phone with you to help you work through your options. Up to you - drop me a mail, personal address is in my profile.

No amount of training / coaching / hitting with sticks will make your staff any good if they just want to fill their quota to meet targets.

On the other hand, if they are all hitting quota, why do you need to train them?

cbmotorsport, I work in a similar field, we use Seal Recruitment Training, the owner is a guy called Tony Seagar. He's not cheap but the content is very good and he can customise if to your requirements. He's worth talking to.

Depends on your market, but a good all rounder is Sean McPheat of MTD Sales Training.

www.mtdsalestraining.com

There may be sector specific training specialists dependent on your industry though, but Sean is great as a generalist.

If you're in anything remotely media or client service (think professional services, consultancy etc) then I can wholeheartedly recommend Andrew Milbourn at Kiss The Fish: http://www.kissthefish.net/
