I'm off to Tignes to do some biking for a week later this year. I'm more into natural singletrack than full on downhill and have heard Sainte Foy has loads of this. I'll most likely want to do 2 perhaps 3 days downhilling and the rest finding some natural trails. Is Sainte Foy easy to get to by bike from Tignes? I want to try and save on uplifts and lift passes if possible. Anyone got any tips from their experiences? cheers

Hi Raggatip

I used to guide in St Foy...tonnes of amazing riding. Easy to bike to from Tignes (all downhill), but a slog on the way back up. There are a couple of good routes that would loop you from Tignes into St Foy and back and some great secret singletrack routes in and around St Foy itself if you want to spend more time there. I don't know much about the biking in Tignes itself, but drop me a line at alasdairatfillmytimedotcom if you want details of some routes.

I have been to Tignes a few times over winter and spoke with locals and workers about their summer seasons. Apparently the biking is taking off quite well - last year the summer lift passes were free in order to persuade people into the area, maybe thge same again this year?

Also, if you want to know a great cheap place to stay in Tignes then PM me.

You can ski on the glacier in Tignes in the summer, did it a few years back.

Sainte Foy has loads of cracking singletrack. The local route guide has some good trails, and there are loads of unmarked stuff as well. Was there last year and going back this year. You'll love it.

Hi, i've been a few times as friends have a chalet in sainte foy, well la thule and there's tons of stuff. As said you can ride down from Tignes all the way to Bourg then up to Les Arcs (much better than Tignes imho) if you like which is great. I thought Tignes was ok but the dh runs get boring quite quickly though check out the more xc stuff to the right of the bowl, oh and lifts were free last year too for bikers.

Sainte Foy itself has some great trails, plenty of wooded singltrack and they have a 4x4 uplift in summer too.

If you need accomodation let me know

Might be worth getting in touch with The White Room in SF or Trailaddiction in Les Arcs for a guided day to get some local knowledge to save you time hunting stuff out

Can highly recommend Steveo from The White Rooms - went there in 2009 for a week and the riding round St Foy was fantastic - mile upon mile of sweet single track 😀

Enjoy!
