It is, but much worse is the reason hes had to make it public- he was blackmailed into doing so.  I hope the arseholes involved get a karma related comeuppance.

Still hes reduced it to practically benign with meds.

Really? That's awful. But if he's announced it himself, why does it have to be karma, is blackmail not a crime?

Well done to him and his Husband for going public, shame on the pathetic scumbags who tried blackmailing him to get cash out of him, what must be going through the cess pit of their minds.

HIV shouldnt be seen as some sort of blackmail issue, but an illness like cancer or heart disease etc, best wishes to him and any person living with HIV on here.

So back to rugby, what is your current best 15? Wales have been very settled over recent years but currently 1, 4, a home for Navidi, 9 and 10 are open to debate v Georgia I'd go with

Smith
Owens
Francis
Ball
AWJ
Wainwright
Tips
Moriarty
T Williams
Patchel
Adams
Parkes
Davies
North
L Williams

Although very worried about Smith at Scrum time so Wynn Jones may get the nod.

Farrell is learning to tackle properly - interesting that the two incidents last year that he got away with world rugby says should have been yellows

on concussion - the new guidance about high tackles has reduced the head injuries to tackled player - its now the tackler that gets most head injuries.

So what games are you looking forward to? I think the scotland / japan game could be great for the neutrals - two attacking high paced sides and it will likely decide who goes thru - and the final game of the group stages. One to watch for sure.

So many. Really looking forward to Japan v Russia as it’s the first game and it will be interesting to see how much flair Japan have. NZ v SA. England v France and Scotland v Japan.
I’m too pessimistic to be looking forward to Wales v Australia, where Australia are favourites for me - if (big if) Wales were to win that game comfortably, then I could start to dream.
I’m looking forward to Scotland beating SA and Ireland beating NZ.
I would never have guessed how exciting the Japan v SA game would be at the last World Cup, so I’m hoping for some equally entertaining games this time - just not Wales v Fiji please!

I'd love to see Scotland beat Ireland, that will really make that group exciting as its the most open.

Agreed, and they just might. Ireland looked very good against Wales, how do Scotland get past them? Hamish Watson bouncing off tackles like a pinball? A bit of Russell magic? A problem I see is that Scotland can only win that game if they play like they did in the second half against England (and to an extent Wales), but they threw all caution to the wind as they were so far behind - can they play like that in a more controlled way?

This is Russells chance to shine. If he wants to be mentioned in the same breath as the greats like Carter and Sexton then he needs to be able to show control - and he has shown signs of being able to do so. this is his opportunity to show he is a great - will he take it?

Ireland is going to be a big ask especially as the forecast is for rain. Scotland are not good without the ball and Ireland are ball hogs! Our best chance is if they give us loads of counter ball with poor kicking and that we stop dropping the ruddy ball!

I’ve been through the schedule and have noted key games that I’m not missing. Really looking forward to NZ v. SA.

Some weekends look pretty congested whilst others are less so. I’ll basically watch as much as I can.

Sexton is not a great. Very good player, best British 10 since Henson 😉 I mean Wilkinson in his pomp but not a great imo.

Ah, but is he as good as Russell? 😀

Fair enough - if he wants to be the best NH 10 of his generation and to be mentioned amongst the greats.

Is he as good as Russell? - no one in the world is at Russells best ( watch the last two Calcutta cup matches). Old dufftonians 3rd 15 stand off is more his level at his worst. Having said that its been a while since a really duff performance and this is Russells stage to prove his class. If he does Scotland will do well.

I’d choose Biggar over Russell all day long. Better in defence, always gives his all, has a variety of great skills, top drawer at penalty kicks, vast experience including the Lions ; )

I am a fan of Biggar for sure - but Russell can create tries that no one else can and is no slacker in defense. But as above - if Russell wants to be seen as a great then this is his stage to show it. Can he do it? thats a question we will see the answer to. I don't think any other nations fortunes are so reliant on one player

So circumstances have conspired for me to be in France during the first two weeks of the WC.
So how to watch the pool games in France? (In English preferably) the apartment has blazing internet and I have a VPN, can I get ITV player do you think?

Your VPN will probably need to show you're in the UK as ITV player may be region locked.

Otherwise, if you're using any kind of Android device you can install Mobdro which works well about 95% of the time. If you're using a PC any of the streaming sites will work - Batmanstream seems to work well curently.

Failing that you could watch FRench TV with BBC Radio commentary - an option I frequently use if Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes are commentating for Sky.

Gauss,I watch the French rugby. Russell has spent the last year being targeted by 18 stone Pacific Islanders coming back in on an angle. I would humbly suggest his defence is spot on.

Cheers Namaste buzz, I can do this, I think it might work. Or I will do as you say and listen to the radio whilst watching the French coverage.

Apologies, you may well be correct. It was more that I have often noticed how good Biggar is in defence, rather than Russell being poor.

The news that Rob Howley is being sent home from France for alleged betting is a shocker! To be replaced by Stephen Jones, who appears to be held in high regard.

Open secret that Howley has a gambling problem.

Shame. I've met him. Nice guy. I am sure it is nothing nefarious even if he did break rule 6 or whatever.

You are quite right, I unreservedly apologise, I was simply to lazy to type British and Irish. It really pisses me off when people use english rather than british so I am sorry 😳😳😳

Howley eh, what a ****, still Wales habe the worst attack of any top tier nation so dont expect it'll change much!!

Pity about Howley, as a Scot I was dead keen on him taking over as head coach. Seriously though; I hope he gets help, gambling is a shite, family destroying addiction. And when it gets to the stage it could cost him his job but he still punts...

So, who has it in for Howley so much so to get everything to happen at this kind of timing?

Sound pretty sh.. situation for all involved but you suspect Wales will be better off with Jones coming in in terms of what happens on the pitch

Judging by how few tries Wales have been scoring lately surely Howley going home has to be seen as a bonus?

Short term Biggar is apparently in charge of attack during training so not much will change! 😉 Jones has a heck of a task on his hands when he arrives and it is an incredibly tough situation for him to drop in to

I wasn't aware that Howley was seen as a problem but I always think these things like some kind of adversity will play into welsh hearts and will only make them more determined. I see us getting knocked out by them at the 1/4 as much more likely.. ~
I would prefer welsh preparations to be perfect and for the team sheet to be perfect. They always seem to drop the ball when that happens.

I love this stuff about adversity making teams better - like when The Hurricanes got so good at playing with 14 men....

BB at 15 for NZ v SA.
Pocock and Hooper in backrow for Aus V Fiji. Fiji look strong, I'm now worried!!

So you should be AA

I think there are several "minnows" who might well embarrass some of the bigger teams. I fear for us against Japan. Fiji could well come good - conditions similar to those they are used to at home and time together will help them a lot and they have some great players.
