How frigging good is Liam Williams?!

Very, TJ will have a melt down when Gatland picks him for the first test over Hogg!!

I really enjoyed the game yesterday; huge commitment from both teams. When Sarries were ten nil down after 30 odd minutes I thought they’d blown it. Fair play to them for not loosing their heads and finding a way to win.bad news was injuries to Mako and Billy (who had a very good game).

Hard to see Exeter beating them in the prem final (I’m sure they’ll make it) but their form isn’t what it was. Securing their place in the knock out rounds so early hasn’t helped them.

Has it been confirmed that Edwards is 100% off to France?

Was some game, lots of very unhappy (and absolutely battered) Leinster fans in the stadium. Best team won, it summed up Leinster's day for me when McGrath didn't kick it dead at half time. They'd might have held on for longer if so. Sarries defensive line was fantastic, Leinster having little room to run into.

Gatland for Lions, TJ will be livid!!!

Justy dissapointed. Thats the end of the lions as a "british" entity IMO

Actually I wouldn't as Williams is a great player in a great run of form. I'd say Hogg has more credit in the bank but Williams may just be in better form right now. Still an utter git tho that one would never tire of slapping!

Gatland is the best man for the Lions, he has been quite successful and seems pretty astute.

Sheesh, an all Irish referring team for Glasgow’s semi final with Ulster,I am sure that they will be fair but it smacks of poor planning. I mean;we could have got a Welsh ref as we have known since Christmas that they weren’t going to have any conflict of interest during the finals.

Looks like some ding dong matches in the Premiership today.

I wouldn’t bet against Glaws pulling something off this season on a nice warm early summer’s day.

Oh, and well played Sarries last weekend.

What a tool Leo Cullen is, bringing sectarianism into rugby? Cheers for that!

Did anyone watch the Ospreys v Scarlets game? I was describing the yellow card and subsequent try to a colleague ( also an Ospreys supporter, in theory) who didn't see it and I want to gauge how one-sided my view was. 😀 Imo Dirksen was in a realistic position to catch the ball, until McNichol jumped on him, and also didn't pull JM down - they only tangled arms as they hit the ground. And the Scarlets 6 deliberately blocked Tipuric in the try - he was ahead of the pass and collided with a defender. I'm interested to know what other think. (Partly because the Scarlets were only in this game because of those decisions, and the ref was otherwise pretty biased towards the Ospreys, I thought.)

Only saw bits of hit but thought it was harsh on Dirkson, having said that he did grab JM as they were falling and well after the ball had been lost. Didnt see the try, got bored and switched off. Wales are ****ed next season without Gatwards

Wales beat New Zealand in the u20s earlier.

Anyone see the horror tackle from NZ that was inexplicably only a yellow.

Is it yellow because he takes the ball and then dips his knees? The NZ player was pretty much always borderline on height but the unintentional dip happens when he's committed.
He the knees not bent probably a red.

I turned that game on with about 10 minutes to go. Why was the replacement Wales hooker wearing number 27 on his shirt?

They have big squads and almost unlimited subs, so probably cos of that.
Can't find the official rules.
Good to see NZ playing off for 7th place below England and Wales. Makes a nice change.

Yeah, shoulda been. Only mitigation is that the Welsh fella was in a seated position when he was hit. But tackler has to take more care than that!

Well he could have tried jumping to catch and not bending his legs on landing but that would have injured him too.

I have no idea wtf you're arguing with. Can you explain? Or maybe read my post again and understand it better? -
Yeah, shoulda been ie . in reply to "Red all day long." yeah?

Only (got that bit?) mitigation is that the Welsh fella was in a seated position when he was hit. But tackler has to take more care than that!

But yeah, thanks for reminding me why I avoid this thread.

Still here. Anyway yes...deserved.

I see Fat Basta is not in French squad for World Cup nor Teddy Thomas and Para.

Hartley to miss out too and Marler may return.

Hope he has a a long lens for watching and selecting his Lions squad, or perhaps his coaching team presumably based in these Isles will be doing the Lions (see what I did there - groan) share of that..

Gonna need a hefty dose of Gatlandball to bore the fijians into defeat 😉

The Maori All Blacks slow linespeed and dog legged defence is certainly different from how Wales do it!!

So how are we all feeling about our WC chances?

Scotland:
Front row - plenty of guys able to do a job. Z Fagerson could really shine IMO
We need second rows with "bite" - bring back Nathan Hines! Some very good second rows available - so much that big Ritchie is not going to Japan but none of them are proper hard men.
Back row - missing a big power runner apart from maybe Bradbury but he is very inexperienced. Pick our 3 best / most experienced and we look underpowered. Watson is a great guy but probably the smallest forward in a top tier team. Barcley playing well but lost a bit of speed. Wilson seems to be Toonies no 8 but again not the biggest and could have a fight in an empty room. some difficult choices to be made in the back row to get a balanced side

Half backs - again some big decisions to be made. Laidlaw - we seem to play better when he is on the pitch but he is no way the best 9 we have. G Horne is a fantastic player but again inexperienced. Price is back playng well but falls between the two.
Russell - what else can you say? 80% the best attacking 10 on the planet 20% a numpty who costs you points. A key player. His backup is Adam Hastings who suffered a big dip in form but showing some good skills towards the end of the season!

Centres- a mix of broken and getting back to fitness, mercurial who drift in and out of games and Peter Horne - the enigma who barely looks good enough to play pro 12 but seems like laidlaw to make others play better and also capable of some great stuff.

Back 3 - players to match anyone in the world - Hogg, Kinghorn, Graham, Maitland, Seymour. Experience or talent - who do you pick? Seymour never lets you down but Graham - what a player he is.

q/f for us I think - but even getting there will be tricky with the game against Japan being critical - Japan get 12 days to prepare for it - Scotland get 4! and there is no doubt Japan will be targetting that game like they did against SA in the last WC
If everything runs to form the Scotland get NZ in the QF. I don't see us getting any further.

finnally - whats going on with the names? Too many folk with Surnames for first names or just daft names.

Blair Kinghorn? WTF. Darcy Graham? Stafford McDowell. Zander Fagerson? Finn Russell? Who named these guys!

Wales should do ok if we can stay relatively injury free. Wont win it, semi final would be a fantastic result.
