These bloody KO times!!

Cooked an early Valentines lunch timed perfectly to finish at 14:23 expecting a 14:30 KO. Settled down with remains of the malbec and still 30 mins to go 🙁

Brown is bloody predictable though; ball under one arm, the other arm outstretched ready to run into traffic. Watson is another option at FB when fit.

Daly's boot would be a huge advantage at FB too. Farrell has developed the passing side of his game.

Not sure about that as gouging as the Wales player moved his head into the hand, but these things can go either way. Need a longer clip to see if the hand was removed.

Did he now? 😆

Course he did. He wanted Hughes to be banned for a few games so that England could find a better no8. It was all done for England's benefit. 😆

An extra glass of malbec for me!!!

Got a hot cup of coffees too - hope I don't need it!!!

Oh no, it's Cotter and Nicoll together again, Does the red button give TF1 commentary?!?

Second best anthem after LOMF - top two sung by the home crowds with relish, but Cardiff wins by head!

I'm not denying contact with the face and probably the eye but the Wales player is clearly turning his head, as I said needs a longer clip to see what the England players hand does. All I was saying is it is not a clear cut case of player putting hand to face, rather that it was face to hand. It could go either way I'm not defending gouging by any player but if you can't acknowledge that the Wales player turns his head then you are watching a different clip.

I [s]wander [/s] wonder if Brand H will start against Italy

I'd say yes. Jones needs him match fit, he also wants the Italy game won at 60 minutes so England can (continue to) pile on the points to defend the 6N title in case of a potential loss against Ireland.

Hask on for 60, someone else - Clifford? - to finish.

CFH - If that is the case then any contact with the face is a citing offence? I'm sure there were plenty of other occasions of hand and face contact in every single game.
Are you denying the Wales player moves his head then?

contact with eyes or the eye area of an opponent

Them's the rules. Moriarty's actions are irrelevant.

Dull for 10mina but warming up now

This French strategy of offloading constantly looks very effective.

Scotland slowing it down well but need to avoid a yellow.

Can barely believe anyone criticizing Scottish commentary when we've suffered Guscott and Moore for years. Throw Inverdale in and we have the Garth Crooks of rugby

Love a bit of partisan commentary, nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't include dissing the oppos.

Oh well. Better team (just) won despite poor discipline. Good effort from Scotland too but killed in the scrum. France should have won by more.

Enjoyed that game. France were good; their pack is monstrous and marmalised the Scottish pack. The French team have come on a lot in a year.

Scotland's discipline let them down in the second half. Given the injuries, I'm guessing Cotter is glad that there is no game next week.

Disappointed with the result but Scotland were always going to be overpowered. Thought both teams threw chances away with poor handling. The medics will have their work cut out this week.

France deserved the win but think the score flattered them slightly. No idea why we ran at them so much as they're massive, we didn't really play out wide at all.

Two really close and entertaining games this weekend; if we can find (train / select or get fit) a back row we (England) are going to be hard to beat.

I think if Scotland had a better bench they might just have edged their game.

POSTED 2 HOURS AGO #

Not sure I get all the Inverdale hate - he's a nice bloke when you meet him in the flesh and was a pretty decent centre in his day. I played against him a couple of times and he was always very friendly, approachable and generous in the bar afterwards despite already being "on TV".

I know he's made a couple of unfortunate gaffes but I'm not convinced he deserves all the vitriol he receives.

I agree re Inverdale, proper Rugby bloke, is an enthusiast about sport generally and I think one of the BBC's best presenters. Producers drive the content.

I always remember Inverdale at half time in something like Wales v Ireland turning to Colin Charvis and asking "Colin, so how do you think the English back row will go tomorrow?" Long pause from Colin as he gathered his thoughts..

Nichol is a parody of himself - you have to wonder whether he is watching a different match. He also needs to remember that the over use of the superlative on the average/poor means you have nothing left to describe good/excellent play

Agreed POC and M Williams were good

? No 1 to 15 is the first choice team based on weekends performance. So Farrell in at 12.

I feel for Robshaw. He was the NH's stand out back row player in the AI's and now it looks like he'll miss another lions tour due to what must be the first time he's ever been out injured.

That's a lot of Welsh players in that squad bearing mind hat they lost this weekend and failed to get a bonus point against Italy.

Stander as an absolute beast at the weekend. It may 'only' have been Italy, but he was still the first forward to score a hatrick.

Would add or suggest for props
Joe Marler
Dan Cole

In an immense match such as Wales and England it could be flipped to say that Nathan Hughes who kept plugging away, developed through the game shouldbe picked.

However it is hard to look past Tipuric as the stand out back row performance ( and this weekend it has been a real joy to watch all the back rows - Hamish Watson again quietly impressive)

Similarly Sam Warburton was an exemplary performance, Stander was wonderful but when a backrow is launching crossfield kicks then the opposition are not in the game.

At 8 maybe Moriarty for 60 minutes and Strauss for the 20 based on this weekend performance.

Scrum half I just think Webb gave momentum ; not sure who else played as well this weekend.

Furlong is the only prop on the boat so far. Brilliant technically in the tight, and a rampaging ball carrier. Grumpy Chops and Dank Hole pale in to insignificance next to him.

Chf...Having seen the Irish at Murray field and posted this last week I personally think they are a shoe in for the Lions....But this weekend and intially left it blank on the 1 to 15 but against the Welsh both performed well enough.

The Irish have been head and shoulders the best scrummagers.

Re Russell's conversion; Scotland bench were worried the try was going to be reviewed and chalked off, so he was told to get it kicked.

Looked like the ball fell as he kicked it.

Only just seen highlights of the game - wasn't Russell a bit lucky to avoid yellow for hitting a French player in the air just before half time.

Arscottgate incident concluded:

http://www.englandrugby.com/news/rfu-conclude-arscott-investigation/?sf55941719=1

Following the investigation the RFU has concluded the following:

Tom Arscott discussed tactical information with his brother Luke Arscott ahead of the match. This information related to Sale using some backs in their lineout on occasion and that another back would be defending in a different position at times.
The RFU has determined that this information, while at the lower end of the scale of seriousness, falls within the definition of inside information (as per Regulation 17.2).
But in the absence of any evidence of betting or fixing, there had not been a breach of RFU Regulation 17.
However, the RFU has deemed that Tom Arscott’s behaviour was inappropriate and the player has received a written warning for his conduct and he will be required to undertake a relevant World Rugby education module.

The ref can't review a try after the conversion has been taken...have a wee look at the build up on iplayer and see if "there is any reason I cannot award a try." 😉

Good to see Watson back in the England squad. Perhaps we'll see the end of Mike Brown?

Maybe Daly at 15 with Watson on the wing or vice versa?

Someone suggested Brown at scrum half because at least he'd pass the ball then. (Assuming the put-in counts as a pass.) He's given his all for England and had some good games but he's as greedy as Stuart Hogg except without the speed, step, vision or finishing ability.

It would be interesting to analyse how many tries England DIDN'T score due to Brown failing to: draw a man/give a pass/throw a decent pass/not shout angrily at someone.

Still, we'll all miss his post match interviews. 😆

So just to understand - the Scots were concerned some kind of foul had been committed in the run up to the try, the referee had make a mistake and was potentially going to be reviewing it, so they quickly took the kick to prevent that happening and their misdemeanour being spotted?

Isn't that - cheating?

Can't have been, rugby players don't cheat, only wendyballers 😉
