Whilst we're on YT, "I'm from Aberdare Maan" is a classic for valleys humour... A proper shithouse tour of S Wales. "Gurnos Girl" by the same contributor is also worth a google
Ought to add - those YT links above may be NSFW
Bloody hell the tombola came up with Servat! Anyone know what Attoub is like other than good at gouging?
Hovis is back and fit to play.
Son was impressed - he saw Warburton and the rest of the squad on Tues
Big call sticking with Rees he was very rusty against italy.
It's going to be a hell of a Saturday, trawling bars in Bucharest watching the games and drinking cheap beer ๐
I see the Irish have already run out of idea's about how to beat England, they've decided to go public and declare that they won't be friends with them on Saturday.
Ooo,get her...
Anyone know what the roof decision is?
Gatland don't like it - whatever it is
So any of you non-Welsh want Wales to win on Saturday?
Open i belive. If you picked Box Kick and Yachvilli your not going to plan to play openrunning rugby.
Mol - I'm English, but I'll be cheering Wales on against France. This rugby after all and they haven't won a game they didn't deserve too this tournament ๐
I am yetto decide out of ireland england leaning towards england given the comments of the irish though. I will cheer heartily any scot who gives Mirco Bergamasco a good slap too. I think Lamont is the man for the job.
I would like to see a Welsh Grand Slam. They have played some great rugby at times.
Think Ireland may beat England and i fear Italy may beat Scotland.
Wife is Welsh, so a Welsh slam would be tidy!
Undecided. Obviously I'd rather see the welsh win than the French for sure but I can't ignore the face that England are still in with a chance of the title, even if it is a very very slim one.
It's a shame the England Ireland game isn't on first!
Sorry to bring us all down but Mervyn Davies died yesterday, a true legend RIP a great man.
๐ Just heard about Mervyn Davies on radio 2 when they had Scott Quinell on
I'm disgusted with the massive racist conspiracy that is this Six Nations fixture panel.
There's one day in Lent when those good men can have a little drink, and someone (probably English) sets the kick off times so the lads don't get to the bar till 8pm. Its a discrace.
Personally, I reckon whovever thought up this cunning plan had some misguided idea that sticking two minor games on before might tempt the lads into a couple of cheeky pints whilst watching, and then England might get an easier run at their Slam.
Well, its not worked and its not gonna work ๐
Anyway, Come on the Scots, Come on the Welsh (despite a few of their fans turning anglophile ๐ ), Come on the Irish. Should be a great day's rugby.
edit : RIP Mervyn Davies, great player, great man
Agreed, Rip Mervyn Davies came from the era when rugby was not a career and the reward was nothing more than the badge on your chest.
As much as I'd want the odds to be beaten and England to win the 6N in fairy tale stylee, I don't want the French to win, I think wales are the best team in the tournment but not an emphatic "great" team.
I think the fairest representaiton is:
Wales 6N champions but not a grand slam - France to win.
England - beat ireland and end up second
France - a tragic Shambles, lucky to be third, should be 4th
Ireland - Underperformed and are too old/breathless - third
Scotland - a Shambles, for different reasons than France
Italy.
I reckon that France will beat Wales. France have performed woefully this 6N, they should have at least one decent match in them. Wales are the best team in the 6N, not as good as they were made out to be. England and Italy have shown how to shut them down, the French should have the flair to score tries against Wales. However (even as an Englishman) I would be delighted if Wales win and get another Grand Slam.
England v Ireland - very tight game. Ireland should be able to win, but at the moment seem to be a little confused. Without POC and BOD they seem a little leaderless. No real flair in midfield, although plenty in the back 3. England will be happy with three wins this 6N, so perhaps the pressure will be off and see if they can actually pass the ball to the wingers. Up front, I expect huge battle - the Irish have a good pack, but the English pack is improving. I'll go for an Irish win.
Scotland v Italy. Scotland have managed to play well (in patches) without any real result. Last week they were poor. Italy have improved so much over the time that they have been in the 6N it seems hard to recall how easily they used to be beaten. This game should come down to the Italy pack vs Scots backs. I'm going to go for Scotland, since they have played better rugby in the 6N
the French should have the flair to score tries against Wales
Traditionally they do that but in doing so they open themselves up for Wales to score too. Two sides that like running rugby - games have in the past been high scoring.
However France have apparently picked a side that favours forward play...
And also RIP Mervyn Davies ๐
It'll be nice to see Wales win the Grand Slam. I don't think they're as good as the media hype would have us believe but Wales is a proper rugby country and they try and play the game as it should be played.
It'll be interesting to see if England can lay the Irish bogey to rest. Are Ireland in decline or have they just been unlucky?
Picking Lions XVs based around Wales with a few Irishman doesn't fill me with confidence. The Welsh have failed in all their recent encounters with the WAllabies. The Lions need a strong England team next season.
I've just seen the news.

Mervin "Merv the Swerve" Davies, Rest In Peace.
You were a childhood hero who I tried to copy, without success of course.
๐ฅ
We're going to the U20 England/Ireland match tonight at Wasps. Winner takes the 6N title. And our friend Tom Price at 4 again - he's grown into a big lad !
One to think about when he starts to annoy you all tomorrow
Nice one AA ๐
Nice Jiffy compilation! Pity most of it was league though. ๐
Really looking forward to tomorrow. In the pub from 11.30, all 3 games, plenty of beer, some food, lots of laughs and good company.
Come on Wales!
Blimey.. he was really before my rugby watching time, never realised how flippin quick he was.
Diolch, Merv. ๐
Glitchbowlocks
C'mon Wales - do it for Merve the Swerve
Then Italy and England hopefully
Yup, you can say what you like about him as a commentator but he was a decent rugby player.
Nice Jiffy compilation! Pity most of it was league though.ย
well he played the vast majority of his career in league which was tragic for welsh rugby. The most naturally gifted rugby player i've ever seen.
When Jiffy went north he vanished for about 10 months and reappeared about a stone heavier of just muscle. More naturally gifted than Gav AA?
Gav is one of the most gifted players of the last few years, Jiffy was in union when I started wtaching rugby as a kid in the 80's, since then I've not seen anyone as talented.
Apparently he was quicker than Offiah over 30-40m
Ok the nerves are kicking in, come on Wales win the Grand Slam.
I love the build up on days like this!
Off for a ride now. Sun is coming out.
Nervous.......
GWLAD!
Am a bit torn on the GS really. Just slightly disappointed in Wales as I don't think they've performed to their full potential. I hope they really flatten France today and give us a fantastic display of rugby worthy of a GS team. I think Ireland will pop the England optimism bubble. I expect to be frustrated by Scotland yet again...
Scotland by 7-10
Wales by 5-7
Ireland by 5-7
Ireland by 17
Wales by 3
Scotland by 12
๐
How ridiculous are the odds for Wales? same as they have been ever since they beat Ireland which was hardly convincing. I think 9/4 today to beat France which is shocking, I'm guessing France to win must be 2/1, has to be worth putting some cash on France, if they win at least I'll get some cash from my dissapointment.
England by 5
Scotland by 7
France by 8
