Anyone running a Rotor Q ring... but not using Rotor Cranks or BB etc ??

Got 73mm ST BB and White Industries set up at the moment but looking to try a Q ring without having to go the whole Hog so to speak.

Cheers

Is that not the point of them?

I have a set of rings on my road bike, no Rotor cranks or BB.
They do a range of BCD sizes, work fine with any crank they fit same as other chain rings.

yep rotor Qs work fine on normal cranks, just get the right BCD as they do various versions.

Ellipitical rings are a daft idea though

I assume your singlespeed? search the forum as their was a thread about elliptical rings a while back and someone on the forum got some custom made (from BETD i think). Might be of use to you.

I was actually wondering whether Q ring would fit on a RaceFace Atlas crank as these compatibility issues are very hard to answer unless you try (which can be rather expensive though).

don- it's a well know "fact" that they're snake oil and don't work according to the wisdom of the STW massive, a sky interactive vote and "wot some bloke said, down the pub"

I am therefore convinced that they're rubbish and are of no benefit whatsoever.

see, evidence that they're cack

I'm skeptical, but they had a relaunch and were pushing them massively in and around Madrid a couple a years ago. I spoke to one lad that was using them, Borja Chivato, and he reckoned that they were good and he was winning lots of mtb races with them. He was, however, winning lots of races pre-Rotor too. 😕
IIRC the blurb talks about a 42T having a similar feeling and performance as a 48T, or something...

Jeez Tazzy, get over it, you can't take the position you do, with as little evidence as you have, and not expect to be challenged.

I was conned into buying snake oil from Tazzy. Keeps greenfly off the marigolds.

, you can't take the position you do,

what position? I don't exactly get all evangelical about it, I've always said I like em, and it's up to others to try them for themselves....it's not like I even make or sell the bloody things in some sort of guerilla marketing strategy. xx

I'd call you evangelical...you certainly have about as much evidence.
