By far the most disgusting thing I've read this week, god forbid one of his kids ever had to seek asylum in another country, alone (this facility is for unaccompanied children...).

Pretty petty but not exactly a war crime, I imagine plenty worse has been done quietly by the Tories this week. Over reacting to silliness like this is engaging in their culture war.

What an utterly shitty ****ing arsehole of a ****. I hope an angry wasp gets stuck in his urethra.

Can you describe what an over reaction would be? So far nobody has proposed bumming his dog with a hot chorizo.

Tory ministerial niche kink. Could probably charge loads for that.

He's one of the corrupt Tories who takes bribes, isn't he. What a piece of work.

It's not silliness. It's symbolic of their wanton and wilful and spiteful cruelty.

I mean, wanting to deliberately create as hostile and unwelcoming environment as possible for children fleeing war and all manner of other horrors..... it's genuinely the type of behaviour of a psychopath.

Looking forward to Starmer saying that he supports murals in principle but that Britain can only paint the murals it can afford; the SNP saying that Westminster is blocking its mural reform laws; Sinn Fein offering its mural painting experience; and the DUP objecting to the murals as sacrilegious depictions of the human form...

Hot as in molten lava hot or hot as in spicy Naga Ghost Chilli?  Or both? And does it have to be his dog, not him say, hypothetically of course? As long as I don't have to be involved in any way, just floating ideas here.

a work colleague is both a town and district councilor. they took an interest in a local hotel serving refugees a couple of weeks ago and visited the other night to see what was going on. apparently the local MP had gone a couple of weeks previously. demographic is 70% women and children (estimated). approximately 50% Sikh. up until 2 weeks ago there was no fruit made available - now oranges and bananas are provided. up until 2 weeks ago meals were microwaved in their rooms. now meals are provided centrally from 200 miles away daily. cooked the previous day, chilled and shipped down, 'cooked' the following day. 'beef burguignon' which also contained small amounts of carrot, or chicken, with rice or potatoes. green beans, prepared as before, only offered to children, not adults. half the 'clients' cannot eat the beef for religious reasons, the chicken smelt rank/off, and was not being eaten. every day. they get 9GBP/week to spend as they wish. they are discouraged from leaving by security staff unless they 'have good reason'. the facility is ~ 5 miles out from the city centre. taxis are available to make medical appointments FOC, however often do not turn up, meaning appointments are often missed. i'm speculating but i suspect the invoice goes in anyway.

i have no words.

Jenrick believes in nothing but his own advancement, politically and financially.

In a decent country with a decent electorate he'd be the nicest guy going.

Now certain referendum results have shown the expediency of appealing to prejudice and malice, he's a bastard of the people.

He has no principles of his own - just what gets him ahead.

God knows what we’ve done to deserve this assortment of sociopaths and psychopaths with their casual cruelty, complete inhumanity and total absence of empathy and compassion

Oh yeah…. June 24th 2016. Since then it’s been the 52% running the country, and just look where they’ve taken us

I was genuinely hoping this was fake news.

I keep thinking about the conservative purge, and how it removed so much competence from the party.  Those few  conservatives or principle and decency that remain (and there are some) may as well break ranks and walk across the floor from these disgusting, hateful turds.

I believe the party knows it is screwed and those in positions of power are taking their revenge on the country in advance.

He is my MP and I canoit wait for his representatives to start canvassing - please knock on my door so I can deliver some home truths.
jenrick will, it's safe to predict, not venture out unless to attend closed doors invitation only meetings.
He is a pathetic excuse for a human being and is braverman's lapdog.

It’s scorched earth from here until they’re booted out

Imagine getting up every morning, looking in the mirror and seeing the face of Suella Bravermans human shield, to be wheeled out whenever she simply can’t be arsed?

I’m guessing self-respect isn’t a problem with Honest Bob

"...Takes bribes, isn’t he".

Yep. Total and utter self serving morally vacuous corrupt c@#t, even by Tory standards.  He's the one who over-ruled constant local planning refusal for building on a UNESCO world heritage site buffer zone (you know, the zone to protect the world heritage site)  and decided that the UK being signed up to UNESCO treaties could be ignored because the builders to put a load of £££ in the party coffers in return for the planning decision to be overturned.

He's cheap though - they only had to donate £12K to the Tories in return for approval of a £1billion development.

Robert Jenrick doesn’t hold a single belief other than his own self-advancement. He just vocalises the opinions of whichever **** happens to be his boss at the time.

At that particular point it was Dave. Like Mad Lizzie, he’s hardly struggled with his transition to racist thicko, has he?

So it doesn’t change the fact that at the last count this country was 52% stupid

transition to racist thicko

You can be fairly certain that Robert Jenrick was a racist thicko 7 years ago when he voted Remain.

Read the headline and also thought it was a reaction to some decorating gone wrong, how wrong I was. You know that saying about when you hit rock bottom the only way is up? They're still finding ever more imaginative ways to keep on falling. Making children feel less welcome at an asylum centre is just below where I thought even this lot could drop to. What's next to dig even further down? Replacing the murals with "British" ones of Jimmy Saville? Wouldn't be surprised if they used a load of art done by Rolf Harris.

I believe the party knows it is screwed and those in positions of power are taking their revenge on the country in advance.

It's worse, they're doing the Scorched Earth thing but some of them genuinely think they'll get another term regardless!

its performative. It’s not about being cruel, it’s about being seen to be cruel. It’s what their voters (or the voters they want to appeal to) want to see.

they want to see other people being treated badly. It’s important to make sure it’s clear that there are people who are outside the club so that it feels like you’re inside the club. People will overlook a lot about their own circumstances if they see others who they think deserve to be worse off being demonstrated to be worse off.

They are not, but the MPs people vote for in other countries are not really affecting the country I live in.

Jenrick got 63% in last election so presumably his constituents are very pleased to have him as their MP...

Jenrick is whatever he thinks people want him to be.

If he thinks 'racist thicko' plays well in Brexit Britain then that's the persona he will adopt.

He obviously thinks it is a rich vein to tap. He is, most likely, correct.

I think you're right. The question is really "To whom are they performing?" there's a good percentage of Tory voters who think that their immigration and migration policies are unnecessarily cruel and inhumane. There's an even bigger percentage of the total population who think the same.

Many will have been returned on a minority vote share, ie. most of their constituents voting against having them as their MP.
