Apparently London to Manchester on the HS2 will now be 15 minutes slower than the existing service. Can't imagine that there is any extra capacity on the West Coast line to slot in HS2 trains once they reach Birmingham, so I guess they'll have to get rid of current services. 90bn well spent, I'm sure you'll agree.

A party conference in this country is supposed to be a spirited exchange of ideas. It is not supposed to be a police-administered Juche-style rally for idiots. The guy was mumbling in disagreement. It's one of the reasons that I disagree with 3 line whips, every vote in parliament should be a free vote.
If as an MP you don't vote the way the party leader wants then you're either in the wrong political party, or the leader needs taking down.
Defy the whip and you're out of a job, it's tantamount to blackmail, if you ask me, and in the highest offices in the land.

This is just bullshit. Not because it's too cynical, but simply because US permanent residents (green card holders) are taxed on worldwide income, and because spouses of billionairesses never have difficulty immigrating anywhere.
