****ing chaos ! Hunt "No “formal decision” has yet been taken on HS2" so if he's announces it during his speech (which seems to be the expectation :/ ) tomorrow "It was an epiphany in the car on the way back to his hotel" ?

They've come up with a whole range of policies which don't exist (like "taxing meat") and then claim they're abolishing them because they're too woke or too Labour-ish or something.

It's like Johnson's columns in the Spectator where he talked utter bollocks about Eurocrats and Brussels restrictions on our Good Old British Values - none of it was true but it lead, slowly and inexorably, to Brexit.

What a missed opportunity to substitute the Labrador with a foaming at the mouth rabid XLBully that's angry that his cancellation was announced even before HS2

Are they taking aim at vegetarians now? Is that a sign of being too woke?

Theresa Coffey yesterday said that they will now get rid of the EU rules on bendy bananas. I am not making this up. Though clearly they are

https://twitter.com/telegraph/status/1708995684769173690?s=46&t=1lK7Dw1b6RqGJyvufO-trQ

They are now proposing to abolish some bullshit that their former leader made up when he was a journalist

Jeez...

As if we didn't already know, the 'bendy banana' rules are as follows:

The regulation applies to unripened green bananas and thus to growers and wholesalers, rather than retailers.[3] The main provisions of the regulation were that bananas sold as unripened, and green bananas, should be green and unripened, firm and intact, fit for human consumption, not "affected by rotting", clean, free of pests and damage from pests, free from deformation or abnormal curvature, free from bruising, free of any foreign smell or taste

Given that the normal curavture of a banana is, well, curved... they are just outright lying or they have never even read the legislation they are proposing to scap.

Apparently he’s also decided that he’d let Farage back into the Tory party.

It’s almost like he’s trying to lose votes now.

What a missed opportunity to substitute the Labrador

I assume he was disappointed when he was told that guide dogs were to help blind people and not those without a clue what to do with their party?
Cant believe Farage has turned him down though. Thought he would quite like the idea of becoming a mp in opposition. Means he could keep doing sod all aside from whining and cashing the paychecks.

It’s almost like he’s trying to lose votes now.

Or win a very specific vote?

It looks like they're confirming exactly what everyone's said they're doing.... they know the next election is lost, so they're trying to shore up their core vote of elderly racists so that a defeat doesn't turn into an absolute electoral bloodbath.

As it stands at the moment, it looks like half the cabinet and even Sunak himself could lose their seats

That's just Rishi moonlighting as a PIP assessor. The poor sod that needs that guide dog is now sanctioned as they "can't be that ill as they can take a dog for a walk."

Surely there must be some lefty revolutionary nutters out there willing to do a red army faction job on her?

Happily the answer seems to be no there isnt. Since that really isnt how anyone sane would want politics to work here.
Even if she can get in the sea for her belief that anyone who doesnt agree with her toxic politics and destruction of the country is somehow unpatriotic.

A heckler who (very quietly) called Bravermans speech ‘a homophobic rant’ was marched out by the police. It wasn’t some mad lefty who’d somehow infiltrated the ring of steel, but the Tory chair of the London Assembly, Andrew Boff

Since when was it the job of the police to remove hecklers? And isn’t the Tory party the champion of free speech?

Bloody snowflakes!

That wasn't heckling!! It was, 'talking at the same time as the speaker'.

Unless you were right next to him you wouldn't have heard it!

The filmer seemed to be in the right spot to catch his heck-mumble. Almost like it was a pre-arranged thing.

I imagine security spotted this and were primed to go. Probably a bit disappointed that he barely got his words out and didn't put up a fight. He even took an aisle seat to make it convenient for them.

well Bravermans speech was absolutely terrifying

Politicians do get murdered in this country, and get vile threats daily, and while I despise Braverman, I think your comments are pretty disgusting.

Since when was it the job of the police to remove hecklers?

Labour can't exactly criticise, to be fair, iirc. Power corrupts.

Anyone listen to PM on R4? Just before the handover to the 6pm news, Evan Davis had a James Naightie/Jeremy Hunt moment calling the PM Rishi Coonak!

Apparently London to Manchester on the HS2 will now be 15 minutes slower than the existing service. Can't imagine that there is any extra capacity on the West Coast line to slot in HS2 trains once they reach Birmingham, so I guess they'll have to get rid of current services. 90bn well spent, I'm sure you'll agree.

It’s like the perfect, all-encompassing, full-spectrum * up!

The clueless bastard is going to stand up tomorrow, in a former railway station in Manchester, and with his big stupid fixed grin and horrible patronising tone, administer the coup de Grace to this *ing shambles of a government

Shockingly, it is real.

I clicked through, and ended up in a horrific pit of right wing, bigoted bilge.
Not a random gammons account, but the official twitter account of our governing party.

I'm truly sickened.

The most base definition of woke is not being a ****

The Tories are failing miserably at this.

It's not a high benchmark

Please let it be so, it'll be amazing to watch him do it and think he's doing the right thing. It's the pain we have to go through to get this lot out.

they be on about critical race theory soon and having criteria on what books can be taught in the classroom which will classify the bible as verboten. Where I have I seen that before 😕

It's this level of acceptance I find scary. Don't do it because it's not on; not do it because the other lot did it.

A party conference in this country is supposed to be a spirited exchange of ideas. It is not supposed to be a police-administered Juche-style rally for idiots. The guy was mumbling in disagreement. He was not - a weedy middle aged man* sitting dozens of metres from Braverman, having been through several layers of security - a threat to the speaker. It's madness that he was physically grabbed and escorted out.

* I say this with great affection and as a weedy middle aged man myself.

Backbenchers on MP salary (£87k) with the very generous allowances/expences and the golden pension that comes with it?

My guess would be when hell freezes over...read the room, for both Labour and Conservative MP's lol!

It's one of the reasons that I disagree with 3 line whips, every vote in parliament should be a free vote.

If as an MP you don't vote the way the party leader wants then you're either in the wrong political party, or the leader needs taking down.

Defy the whip and you're out of a job, it's tantamount to blackmail, if you ask me, and in the highest offices in the land.

It's pure abuse of process... even corbyn 3 line whipped labour MPS into voting in favour of envoking article 52, it's just not fit for purpose.

This is just bullshit. Not because it's too cynical, but simply because US permanent residents (green card holders) are taxed on worldwide income, and because spouses of billionairesses never have difficulty immigrating anywhere.

The reality is that 99% of voters vote on the basis of party affiliation. Why should MPs be entitled to ignore that?
