Every day, something else about this government turns up which can only be described using the term ‘pathetic’. Or ‘infantile’.

Yep, you would think it is just a game/part of career progress rather than trying to protect and progress society wouldn't you.

Gove enjoys the plotting and back-stabbing a lot more than any ministerial job he's had. In his pharmaceutically-addled brain he thinks he's that bloke from House of Cards.

What I find incomprehensible it that top tier ministers are allowed to conduct business via uncontrolled/private whattsapp groups

tbf if you are plotting to overthrow the current ceo then doing it on the work systems would be a tad risky.

Starmer must be wondering where to start with this upcoming PMQ's. He's spoilt for choice.

You must wonder why Rishi keeps putting himself through this, when everyone sat behind him seems to be hellbent on giving the leader of the opposition yet more ammunition and the polls just keep getting worse and worse

Maybe he'll just stand up today and say 'you know what?.... **** this, lets just have an election so I can move to California'

It looks like Rishi Sunak might have successfully put pressure on the Met Police:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/feb/01/met-accused-bowing-political-pressure-palestine-march-curbs

A Met spokesperson said: “We must balance the rights of protesters with the rights of others. The scale and frequency of marches is causing serious disruption to many Londoners. We do not support a request to extend the march into Whitehall.

The Met never had a problem with the marches going into Whitehall before, and why would they? Whitehall is a massively wide mostly traffic free road, nothing much happens there on Saturdays when all the government departments are shut, apart from a few tourists.

It should make tomorrow's demo very interesting and is likely to give the Met a huge headache. With the marchers in Trafalgar Square having no access to Whitehall it will totally paralyze the roads radiating off Trafalgar Square bringing much of Central London to a standstill.

These demos are absolutely huge and even with the crowds using Whitehall it can be a real struggle to get through and accessing stations such Westminster.

The Met will very likely regret allowing their operational planning to be politicalized by this Tory government on its way out.

I know that none of them like the fact very much Ernesto, but Rishi, his Tory far right headbangers and the Met still don’t get to re-write the law when it suits them

It must be really, really pissing them off, but they haven’t managed to impose their protest-free police state just yet

Judge throws out case against Greta Thunberg and other London protesters

You’d think this would make them reappraise their approach, but they’re not very bright

In other news it looks like the free childcare policy that seems like it was literally announced on the hoof, is completely falling apart.

Probably because it was announced on the hoof, without even a back-of-a-fag-packet plan to implement it

How many voters is that going to seriously piss off as an election approaches. Massively over promising and under delivering once again

He’s not very good at this politics lark is he?

You seem to be assuming they consider the current outcome as bad.
Obviously the best outcome for them is having them fined (second best would have been to have it wait even longer before going to court) but even without that it was reasonably successful.
They stopped the protest on the day and disrupted the protesters lives for several months including I suspect some strong bail conditions which would have limited ability to protest.
Alongside that there is a good chance other people would have been put off protesting since having to tell HR you have been nicked and are on bail is likely to be problematic.

Sunak's approval at -30

Tories on average over 20pts behind labour Atm

can't see them planning a GE anytime soon with this numbers

but the vulture within the party will be circling for sure

Holding out for an autumn general election would only make sense for the Tories if there was good news expected in autumn and/or the gap between them Labour was currently narrowing, even if it was just slightly.

I can't see what good news might be envisaged for the autumn, and with the toll on consumer prices caused by Houthis blockade of the Red Sea possibly some bad news.

And whilst support for Labour has been more or less stable for a while now Labour's lead over the Tories has increased slightly as the result of the Tories hemorrhaging support to Reform UK - in the last 4 months or so support for Reform UK has increased from about 5% to about 10%.

There is no evidence that if Sunak leaves it until autumn the Tories will regain the support that they have been steadily losing to Reform UK in recent months. In fact there isn't even any evidence that support for Reform UK has hit a ceiling.

One of the biggest worries for the Tories must be that their demoralised supporters will stay at home on general election day and not bother to vote. They are however more likely to vote in local elections less affected by national politics.

For that reason holding the general election on the same day that many of their supporters will be queuing up at the polling stations anyway makes a lot of sense. Especially if it is a few weeks after a tax giveaway Spring budget.

IMO not holding the general election on May 2 would be daft for the Tories. I can't see any advantages with waiting until autumn.

They still get away with nonsense though.
On the recent legislation to ban zombie knives, again, the Tory MP kept banging on a bout the fact labour, when in power, had never brought in legislation to deal with the issue. No one pointed out that zombie knives didn't start to appear until 2011, when the tories were in power.

The full interview is due to be shown on the Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube channel at 2pm and TalkTV at 8pm on Monday (5 February).

Well at least he'll have at least 3 witnesses to the bet. Possibly even 5 or 6?

All his attempts at policies are falling to bits. There goes the heat pump one, guess we all need to rely on expensive gas for a bit...

Still, it's nice he can ponce around placing bets on flights, guessing that £1000 for him is loose change from down the back of a sofa.

The pharmacy prescribing policy is also, unsurprisingly, falling on its arse with pharmacies warning that their position is often already uneconomic even before more u underpaid work is lumped on them.

There was a 'boiler tax' coming in to inventivise boiler manufacturers to diversify into making heat pumps.

The manufacturers claimed it was a bit hard for them and the Tories capitulated.

I'm guessing we'll see some donations into the Tory coffers from the boiler manufacturers soon

Surely we must be due a May election? He can' t possibly be wanting to drag this shambles out for any longer than he needs to?

'Excruciating' is the word for all of it. He clearly doesn't have a clue. With his so-called policies it feels like Alan Partridge blurting out programme ideas. None of them survive the first hour of contact with reality

The upcoming Rochdale by-election is going to 'interesting'. Actually its going to be an absolute shitshow.

Its a safe labour seat but George Galloway, never one to miss a bandwagon he couldn't jump on, is wooing the large muslim population, with rabble rousing about Gaza.

In the opposite corner we have Reform who have fielded the former labour MP Simon Danczuk who was kicked out of labour then lost the seat for sending inappropriate images to a 17 year old (he said he left the party as it had 'gone too woke'). Given the sensitivity of that kind of thing in this particular constituency that seem like an erm... 'bold' move.

Its all getting very racist and divisive and properly nasty, with Britain First wanting to run but not getting their papers submitted in time (what a shame). They're in the mix causing trouble though - presently circulating a video on social media of the labour candidate Azhar Ali speaking Urdu and claiming he doesn't speak English. Preposterous nonsense, but I'm sure plenty of the hard of thinking will buy it

There are also a number of independents.

God only knows what will happen, but its unpleasant enough to probably be an accurate precursor of our upcoming general election

I'll just have to say it again, I hate him more than all of the others.

He's an odious little prick, he hasn't got a clue what he is doing.

Morgan played him like a fiddle, he didn't seem to realise that by shaking hands he was taking a bet.

GE now please.

I'll agree on the first part but I think he knows what he's doing. Playing the Big Man to his wife's parents and directing as much money and influence to InfoSys as possible.

In all other respects he's clueless, it's obvious that he has zero time for, understanding of and in common with "the people". He's certainly not in this job to run the country, he's here for his own (and his family's) influence and gain.

Starmer in a heartbeat. They're not the same man despite what some want to portray.

Is he perfect? No

Is he a decent human? Yes, I think so

Is he better than the utter emotional cretin in number 10? Abso-****-lutely

Sunak is just wasting all our time, I'm thoroughly fed up with him
