Bad luck if you bought a calendar but I’m proposing that we skip ahead to 2025, assuming the world is still there.

Sorry to be grumpy, but after a series of hospital visits already this year I’ve just managed to step into a perfectly foot shaped pothole while out running and hit the road hard.

My knee is still bleeding four hours later, I’ve torn a hole in my favourite t-shirt, and I clobbered my hand breaking my fall. So on top of being excommunicated by the CAA for a wonky heart rhythm, now I can’t even run or ride my bike. 😕

Kind of feels like it’s all coming at once.

What a pile of rubbish. I feel for you.

When this kind of shit hits me [ wobbles arm ] I try to remember that there are people enjoying their lives that have never run, or cycled [ or piloted a plane ] and to try and work at getting perspective. Sometimes helps. Not always.

Well, that all sounds shit, particularly the CAA bit, and you have my sympathies.

Luckily (or not) for you, it turns out that lifeshit doesn't use the same calendar as us. At some point it will get better. Hang on in there.

Sorry to hear that Flaperon 😣

id get that hand X rayed too - very easy to fracture the schaphoid and if undetected quickly they never properly heal.

Sorry to hear that @Flaperon.  I assume the CAA thing is temporary?

I seem to be constantly ill or injured at the moment.  Every 4 months I’m ill and every 4 months I’m injured and they’re a half sine wave pattern offset from each other, so it seems constant.

I don't know what the CAA is but I bet you're up and running within the month.

CAA = civil aviation authority. Among other things handles pilot licensing.

Sympathies with you Flaperon, no word for this other than shit.

The body has an amazing ability to heal, which you shall.

As an aside (and when the bleeding is no longer an issue!), can you swim?

Defo get an x-ray.

I fell just before Xmas and ended up having 2 sets of x-rays and an MRI before they decided that I just had bruising of the ulna and some ligament damage.

Still hurts slightly but I was very keen to ensure the scaphoid was checked thoroughly.

Sorry about the CAA too.... Bugger 😩

I feel your pain.....

Wife has emergency surgery New years day and spent 2 weeks in hospital.

She comes home and I bugger my back up - a week taking diazepam and naproxen (supper trippy!!) and then I get this head cold that won't shift - 2 weeks and counting....

Apparently things can only get better 🙄

The CAA thing (sorry Google wasn't very helpful) is a career changer but most injuries just require the right measures of patience and persitence to come back from.

Ditto, although my MRI confirmed a small fracture, but by the time the results from that had come back it was already 7 weeks post injury. That said it healed fine, probably because of the wrist brace they gave me on day 1.

So sorry to hear about your really bad start to 2024.
I too am injured and this means I can't work (self employed). Being a bit run down too means I'm catching things -getting colds and coughs.
You can always buy a new T shirt, but sometimes something like ripping your favourite shirt, can just tip you over the edge.
Healing vibes to everyone who atm can't lead their normal lives.

OP hopefully it's a temporary suspension of your livelihood while things get sorted out. Get Well Soon.
