So, Mrs TP has deleted her most important App. I've been tasked with restoring it and all the vital data it contained.
Her most recent iCloud backup will have everything but what is the simplest way to actually get the app and data back on her iPhone?
I'm aware that simply reinstalling the app from the App Store won't reinstate the data.
The belt and braces approach would be to erase & reset the phone and setup from the latest backup.
However. Is there an easier way? Can I just roll it back to the last backup? I know that iOS does a type of 'merge' of data when you do this. I'm not sure if it will actually reinstate a deleted app or just restore the data for apps that are present at the time. I can't risk iOS taking a further backup and losing the App data completely.
I've read about 3rd party app's that appear to have options. Also of doing something in iTunes, but the phone is iCloud backed up only so not sure if iTunes will help.
Any input appreciated!
Cheers,
Paul
Depending on the app...
Is the user data stored by the app via a login? Possibly data all on their servers?
There doesn't appear to be a login as such and Mrs TP doesn't recall registering anything. The iCloud backup shows 11.5 mb of data stored for it.
If you restore the whole phone and it fails "its evil Apple's fault".....
Restore from backup should get the app and data back from the point where the last backup was done. As you say your backup is iCloud so iTunes won't hold any backup info (I backup to iTunes so my data is on my comouter/iTunes)
