Anyone come across these why buying or selling houses? I can see what they're trying to achieve in principle but they seem overly restrictive for buyers and seller in the way they do it.

Are they cast iron, clearly defined in law or are they a bit woolly with scope for discretion?

Proper covenants are permanently fixed, I believe. Fairly common here in parts of Derbyshire.

Think they are there for a reason. Mainly to ensure only local banjo players are allowed in!

The place we are buying had one and it's been lifted a few years back. I expect that's a good way to make a few quid.

Yes - agricultural ties. Would be very careful buying a house with same. Mortgage companies were not keen a few (20) years ago. Worth checking...
