My 2 daughters had the Hudl (version1) from Tesco, originally quite happy with them but now after 3 years the battery is crap and a couple of other "issues" mean I'm on the look out for 2 cheap-ish Android tablets.

They really only want to do the basics with it (media/apps/games/streaming) so it needn't be anything too fancy.

As I've got to buy two it can't be too pricey, any ideas?

cheers

+1 for kindle fire. Runs minecraft, YouTube, iplayer etc with no issues. Actually sold a hudl2 with a cracked screen on ebay for more than the kindle fire replacement cost!

just got 3 amazon fires for the kids, they love them. Consider the kids version not much more once you factor in buying a tough case and offers 2 years free replacements.

Has anybody mentioned Kindle Fires yet?

Paid £10 for a case for ours - £40 seems quite a lot to provide 2 years cover for something which costs £50 (though I got the normal Fire for £35, so saved £55 over the kid's version - I've seen it on sale for £40 more recently). Only really worth getting the Kids' edition if you were going to pay for the sub to their premium content anyway.

Have installed Play Store on ours, which gives access to more apps, though sadly doesn't play nicely with the child profile stuff, so probably going to give up on that - that and it won't allow access to dodgy websites like CBBC (though I did find that the other principle failing of that, the music app not working on the child profile was solved by installing a 3rd party app).
